Test The Iceman's Gut?
For those who havent been there yet, you all need to check out the UFC 66 official Website.
It's an interactive website for both Tito and Chuck and the part where it has Analysis breaks the fighter down in an interactive format for 5 different areas of their body and the strengths and weaknesses of each. It breaks down, Strategy, Heart, Striking, Core Strength, and Legs. There is an icon for each and you click on each fighter to find out what their take is on each area.
On Chuck, his core strength we all know is strong. But his gut is noticeably larger now. Now I don't know if that's the million dollars showing itself but on his own analysis at the end he says something like "I do have a gut and Tito knows this".
So I'm wondering if Tito shouldnt test Chuck's gut. Tito is more than capable of landing a good straight right to Chuck's belly and test it i think. It to me looks very soft especially in the breadbasket area.
Check it out and post your thought and opinions on Chuck's gut. he's always had one, but this website it's more noticeable cause it's like in HD.

Chuck's stomach is fine. When he cuts weight its not as much, and you can see all the stomach muscles and how hard it is.
When he rehydrates the belly comes back again. I guess thats just genetics.

Not having well-defined abs doesn't mean your gut is a "weakness".

I think that the Liddell-Horn fight showed a lot of things about Chuck Liddell. Among them would be that Chuck Liddell can definately go the distance, or at least four rounds. He was slowing down in rounds three and four, but not significantly enough to question whether he would have gassed out when forced to go into later rounds. Also, Liddell threw more kicks than usual in that fight, which I think was interesting.

This is very true, I'm not at all saying that, I just think when someone has been as unstoppable as The Iceman that to me says that other avenues must be explored.
Judo, gut checks etc.. SOmething, even a little thing that takes Chuck out of his comfort zone no matter how short can mean the fight.

Some people, no matter how many sit ups or ab exercises they do, will still have a small paunch over their lower abs. Its just genetics. Some people have more fatty tissue than others and in order to get a rock hard, chissled look, they would have to drop to around 2% to 3% body fat percentage and that isnt healthy. The only other way would be to get liposuction or try to reduce it over a period of time with diet.
People may question his training or his diet or what not but I dont know why. Every time Chuck has a fight, people start saying things like "but look at his gut" and "looks like chucks laid off the training in favor of drinking and partying". However, he still comes out and performs like a machine. I wish people would stop knocking fighters due to a perceived imperfection in their physique.

I don't really think you can take much from the Liddell/Horn fight especially thinking that shows he can go the distance. First of all he didn't go the distance and second Jeremy was just a moving punching bag for Chuck. Horn was undersized and outmatched from the beginning. Pretty much the only thing you can take away from that is that Horn is a tough SOB.

I suppose, but the fact remains: Liddell went 3.5 rounds. Liddell KO'd everyone but Horn, so I agree that it showed how tough Horn is in MMA. Liddell threw a ton of hard shots and he did exert a lot of his energy in rounds one to round three. Horn was pursuing and aggressive in that entire match, which really surprised me in Horn. Not that I thought he was not able, but rather that he did that under an extreme flurry of shots from Liddell. Most fighters would have withered and gone down and out much faster much sooner (and they have). I would expect to see Tito Ortiz pressing the action in very similar style to what we saw in Liddell-Horn 2.

Every time I see Chuck fight, I get more impressed, I believe it was Sub who mentioned Chuck's leg kicks against Horn. Liddell's leg kicks are brutal. I mean he really whips it hard across. I know this was a long time ago but when he fought Vitor Belfort at UFC 37.5 his wrestling ability and heart was unreal. I find it hard for Liddell to lose this matchup against Tito. But Tito is capable. I just dont think it will happen yet.
Concerning his "gut", I have always noticed it and laughed at. It is just genetics. Look at BJ Penn. Gut or no Gut. It will not hold the ICE MAN back.

didn't phase him. horn as gone the farthest with chuck by far. i would not say he was not phased. something phased him, that fight went to the fourth. if anyone has come close to beating chucky, it was horn.
props to horn, please come back. you left ufc as i was just getting started. horn is a legend already, please don't take anything from him.

Also, many do have what they call a Large Abdominal quadrant which means the skeletal area where the stomach sits in is large giving that what I call Lumberjack look like Chuck has.
However, whether it's a percieved weakness or not, as a fighter, you should at minimum test what looks weak.
Rampage won his fight not really by ground and pound vs. Chuck. If you watch the end of the fight, Ramapage delivers about 6 clubbing blows to the side of Chuck's stomach and it was all over for Chuck then.

I think Chuck got a beer gut, like myself and some others, training or excercising won't get rid off the beer gut completely if you train in the day time then out partying drinking in the night time. It could keep a person from getting a real big beer beely only.
To sum it up, Chuck works hard and play hard. Which is a good combination in life, I think . Although it would keep a person from being perfection, the best shape and condition he could get into.

I doubt Chuck really has that kind of a lifestyle. He probably gets drunk once a month tops. And that's not really a huge hurdle condition-wise.
Some people just have trouble getting abs, and they really don't get you anything. With most fighters, they're more of a side-product of training hard.
The strongest abdominal-muscles are surely not well-defined. Just look at strongmen.

I'll tell you one guy who partied too much but it never affected his fighting.
Bas Rutten.
Interview:
Q: What's your biggest training obstacle?
Rutten: "Alcohol!"

Haha.
But I think if you'd believe all the fitness&bodybuilding magazines, Bas would never have made it.
I feel they exaggerate the effects of alcohol a lot. Drinking once or twice a month is really not a big deal. They act like getting properly hammered once, sets you back weeks if not months.

The guy is 37 years old lol of course the Belly is coming out a bit more, Especially because he's a striker having a little gut doesn't effect his ability to knock someones head off, If you were like Randy who was in his 40ties still built like a brick house thats because wrestling is is first passion and stomach muscle are tops on the training list. I would agree that should be where Tito should be targeting , because tito is not gonna knock out chuck with a single punch to the chin . GNP and body shots is the only way I could see tito coming out of the match.
