Like when i circle to the right i can hit it very fluidly and with a lot of power and land with balance. granted its just a bag in the air and not fighting back but before i try this at my next MT class i want to know what i should look out for. Like down falls of spinning and having one leg off the ground.
It works well against some fighters who carry their hands too high and who don't protect their mid-section well.

Some fighters hang their hands way up and expose too much of their mid-section, and if you time it correctly it can be a devastating kick. It has to be set up well though and timed perfectly. A fighter who likes to lunge forward too much when throwing a straight or a hook can be a sucker for eating a good back kick.

TKD guys use it every efficiently as a power move. GSP and Louisseau have admitted they pulled it out of their TKD arsenal from back in the day when they were kids and I can relate having competed in my youth in the USTU nationals in 91. It's a staple kick in TKD and is becoming more used in MMA and kickboxing.

Good kick.

In TKD the way I was taught to do the back kick properly was to make it more of a straight line kick. It's hard to explain but basically you don't really "spin" you turn, spot where you want that kick to go and straight line it directly to your target. If you actually "spin" meaning making a circular motion, power escapes and you may actually miss. But if you make it more of a turning around motion, spot where that kick has to go and straight line blast it there, IT HURTS!
