Dumb things about Pride
On fsn they continue to show fights with fighters they no longer have in the organization. I doubt ufc is going to be airing nick diaz fights. I know for a fact they stopped showing ivan slaverery when he got das boot. Also on the last ppv event they advertised wandy who never fought.

like ive said time and time again, they have awful marketing... taking UFC outcasts that can start over in pride such as diaz is at least a step in the right direction though...
heres another problem with prides marketing...
who has a better chance to succeed with global marketing? the UFC moving to montreal with GSPs fight and england with Bisping... or pride coming to the UFC showcasing dan henderson, who the average USA mma fan has NO idea who he is...

um.... right before the ufc rebought ivan they aired the fight he had we riggs to pump up people for the riggs diego fight... and we will see about nick... i think pride just wants to showcase good fights.... i dont think they get as bitter as the ufc when a fighter leaves

i think your missing the point a little.... its not about being bitter (although that is true the UFC is VERY bitter about that) its about NOT marketing another organization in any way... the UFC has successfully blocked pridefc for years in the USA by using this tactic... they did really do everything they could to get rid of ivan, all they did was show one fight for the riggs \ diego matchup, but before that, they went from showcasing ivan, to not saying a word about him... and while thats not right, its smart business

I have to admit that I am often annoyed with the match selection going on for the PRIDE Fighting TV shows on FSN and CSN. Sometimes it is a really old match, then a match for a fighter that has left the promotion, and they show a lot of matches over and over again. I wish that they would fix that up and get some really good, recent or live, matches going for the weekly program.

a weekly pride program in the US that highlights whats going on like inside the UFC would be perfect to help market future shows

I agree. But, PRIDE Fighting seems to be drifting in a limbo right now when it comes to marketing. I am sure that they can sell the PPV events, but they seem to be failing on the TV angle of the promotion. I think that the UFC has proven that, if you can conquer TV, then you can get the attention that you need to make the HUGE money. At the current pacing, the UFC will soon be able to just buy the best fighters away from PRIDE Fighting. It seems to have already started.

if you listen to sound off.... frank trigg has been on twice this month and said he is spending all his time filming new shows for pride and that they will have one new episode a week from now on. He said they are taking it at a higher priority and will start advertising it as well... also working on getting a set time and date. now frank can talk all he wants and i wont believe him cause i dont like him.... but it would be nice if for a change he was not hyping his own stuff... he is telling the truth this will rule

that would be awesome, it would be funny if pride starts showing crocop vs. fedor and crocop vs. hunt.

worst part about the pride broadcasts on fsn, and this has been mentioned numerous times im sure, is the stupid cutting the action to show the crowd or because they dont want to show a part of the action, theres times where they cut out like 5 min of the fight

Just seems to me they have the balls and confidence to do that. They don't have to pretend a fighter doesn't exist anymore, once he's gone.
What UFC is doing and has done in the past is what's ridiculous.
Acting like some champions never existed, because they had disputes with them. Prohibiting Tito from being in a fighter's corner for the same reason etc.

You're right. It is like the WWE who refused to even acknowledge wrestlers existence once they left. It is very petty of Dana (whom I assume is behind it).

It is petty, but it's also a great business move. Business business business. Money money money. Drugs and hookers drugs and hookers drugs and hookers.

Marketing is the only thing Pride is lacking.
They don't get the word out. They have the flawed mentality that all you need is good fighters. But without getting the word out, you're NEVER going to attract newer fans.
Pride needs to hire a WESTERN firm to help it with advertising/marketing, because as good as Asians are with business, they're not great with advertising and marketing without western help.

is so sick of hearing "Business" as an excuse for the UFC and other people doing ****ty things... does it make it ok that company's use sweat shops to make products because it is just "Business"? no it sick and wrong and people just excepting it wont change it... stop being so passive... the pride fc company doesnt need to be anything like the ufc. pride should work on getting a tv deal and keep doing what they are doing... the ufc is petty and like a 13 year old boy with a video game that you want and he knows you want it and will treat you like **** to keep giving you a couple moments of it.

the UFC is petty... but it works... they took a sport that was an outcast, and turned into a HUGE money maker and commericial part of sports in the USA in the past couple years....
pride needs to emulate this or they will not succeed bottom line... doesnt matter if you guys love pride, if they dont get the average fan undersatnding who the fighters are and what the deal is, then they are in serious trouble as we have seen by the past year...
remember, these organizations are NOT made for hardcore fans anymore, they are made for the average fan and gaining money...
it HAS to be a business in a cutthroat way because it works

Pride really does have to step up their advertising. All of my friends who casually watch the ufc have no idea what pride is until I tell them about it. The people I watched ufc 66 with had no idea who rampage or crocop were . I think prides main concern right now would be to get a good tv deal. Ufc's deal with spike played a huge role in the ufc's success.

I respect your opinion, but it's not capitalisms fault why country's allow some of their citezenry to work in conditions such as sweat shops.
Cheap labor is why capitalism works. But until country's that allow that sort of thing don't change, why not cash in? It doesent make it right, but it's business whether we all like it or not.
And all the TV deals in the world won't help pride if they don't advertise who, what and where they are and who they're about.
