Psst, Liddell is spelled with two L's
I knew Bruce Lee was going to be coming up here sooner or later, I think if you threw the Bruce of the 70's into the cage he'd probably get beat by someone like Liddell or Jackson BUT that's just because MMA has evolved so much over the past 5-10 years. I think if Lee was around and was watching it evolve he would have been training in it also and would blow anyone right now out of the water, one of the things that has always impressed me most about Lee was his amazing discipline. The guy would train non-stop day in and out and had crazy strength for his size, I think if Bruce Lee was alive today and in his 30-40s he'd be rolling through the UFC.

I don't think anything that has happened in MMA would have surprised Bruce Lee. I think he would beat Chuck Liddell or anyone else in the UFC or anywhere.

Or perhaps you haven't done your research on the man that was Bruce Lee.
I'm not saying he could take on 30+ guys at once like in some of his movies, that's insane. What I am saying is that Bruce Lee had such a passion for the martial arts and a discipline to train unlike anyone else I've even heard of that I think with the proper training would have excelled above and beyond anyone in the sport today.
A few of the things he was able to do.
His striking distance from 3 feet away was five hundreths of a second
He could make a 100 lb heavy bag explode from a simple sidekick
He once caved in a protective headgear made from heavy steel rods, rods that had previously withstood several blows from a sledgehammer.
Joe Lewis - "Bruce was incredibly strong for his size. He could take a 75lb barbell and from a standing position with the barbell held flush against his chest, he could slowly stick his arms out, lock them and hold the barbell there for 20 seconds, that's pretty damn tough for a guy who at the time only weighed 138lbs. I know 200lb weight lifters who can't do that." (Jesse Glover also back up this statement)
I'm on my way out now so I'll post some of the other stuff later but the fact is the guy had an amazing discipline over his mind and body to do stuff that was unheard of in his time.

I think Lee would do great, especially in his own weight class, but I don't know about him beating someone like Fedor.

This is going to be a very unpopular post, but I think we're comparing someone who fights for real for a living with someone who pretend-fought in the movies. I agree that Bruce Lee was in phenomenal condition and trained like a beast, but it was for show. He sparred, he fought heavy bags, and he choreographed fights with stuntmen. Chuck has proven himself by getting in the cage / ring and fighting full contact on a steady basis for years.
I think Bruce's legend has also grown over the years to where people talk about him doing things that he may not have actually done. He could make a hundred pound heavy bag explode with a single kick. Did that happen once, or are you saying he could do it every single time he tried? I also call BS on this five hundredth of a second punch, and I'm curious about how they could track it that specifically.
You know how three times as many people say they were at Woodstock than were actually there? Over time when something's really popular, the legend gets exaggerated.

Bruce Lee would of owned in his own division (LW) and maybe the WW but against someone like Chuck I think he would get KO'd. If he was hit on the chin he would be out in my opinion. Everyone says hes super quick...hes not sonic he cant run rings around someone and keep pounding them. If he was the 1 of the hardest fighters of all time im sure he would of have at least a few fight that fans would of witnessed or even televised.

Good post. You said it much better than I could. My inclination would have been to call these guys a bunch of f#*king idiots. Bruce Lee beating Chuck-- give me a break!
There are rumors that Elvis is still alive. Do you children believe this too?

Obviously, you know absolutely nothing about real Kung Fu. I am a huge fan of MMA and UFC, however, it is a sport, a game if you will. Some fighters know how to win the game better than others (Chuck) It is NOT real life, or life or death, it is sport. There is real brutality, and must be in order to win and the brutality is part of what I love if for, but it is controlled to and extent.
Kung Fu, when implemented with true intent, an intent you only know thru training, is not about wining a game, but remaining unscathed and finishing the technique completely.
Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee would kill most, not all, most UFC fighters. Yes kill. He was in many, many real fights and if you don't know this, you don't know.

Did he have the "death touch" where he could lick his finger, reach out and touch his opponent on the forehead and they would POOF, disappear? Could he open the refrigerator door so fast that the light would not come on?
Bruce Lee was VERY talented at what he did but he was an ACTION STAR IN THE MOVIES!! Do you believe that Sponge Bob is real???

Clearly, you don't train Martial Arts or fight. Please read my first comment again. Maybe 10,000 more times.
