Default Trend with the fans that go to the PPV's...

Is it just me or are you guys as sick of the fans constantly booing whenever the fighters clench, go against the cage, or go to the ground. The Eastman / Rampage fight is a great example. That was a good fight and it was exciting. Sure, it wasnt a complete slugfest but it was a good fight and they booed. They booed whenever Cote and Smith went against the cage. It just makes me absolutely sick with disgust to hear the so-called "fans" boo like they do at the events. If thats the best they can do then they should stay at home and read about the results the next day. I believe that it shows a complete disrespect for the fighters, disrespect twoards other fans who dont want to hear that crap, and to the sport.

I almost muted the show just so I wouldnt have to hear the booing. It seems as if its getting worse as the events go also. I dont know if its a lot of newer fans or if its a lot of people who go just because the UFC is hot now and its one of those "places to be seen at". Whatever it is, its disgusting to hear and just pisses me off in general.

I may sound childish but oh well, I think its classless for the "fans" to act and boo as they were tonight. Just classless.

It seem like half the people who go are a bunch of yuppies that just want to tell their friends "Ya man I'm Going to the fight at mandela bay and I'm rich" Once they get there they don't know what to do or look for, so they boo I guess.

yeah it sucked.
a chick behind me was yelling all kinds of racist things, and talking like she knew all about mma.
she was a moron.

but that is why i go to the fights, it's fun to be there with the excitment, even if it is booing.

Yeah, it does piss me off. All they're interested in seeing is a slugfest. Your average MMA event attendee has no clue what is going on in the ring technique-wise. They'd rather see two guys with no technique throw haymakers than see two guy do good clinch work or battle for position on the ground.

The people on this board appreciate the fights for the tests of skill and heart that they are, but the average American "fight fan" is incredibly ignorant.

you know what is worse then the fans booing?
when the ref stands them up or restarts the fight cause the fans are booing.

I think the problem stems from people drinking as well as some only wanting to see people swinging wildly until someone is KO'd. If only they understood there is more to MMA than to stand and slug it out.

I know that once the UFC comes to Canada, there will most likely be no booing. Even if it's a boring, horrible, Heath Herring/O'Brien type fight. We're just polite like that.

this is a huge reason why i like pride events so much... ufc fans drive me to not want to watch it anymore... the rampage eastman fight was awesome... loved every second of it! the cote smith fight... AWESOME.... minus the not going in for the kill in round one... and people booed through both these fights... i cant take it. i understand why fighters feel so much pressure... being booed by tons of people on tv must be a ****ty feeling

When the UFC comes to the UK I dont think there will be any boos. Its not as big in the UK as it is in America therefore less people know about it so only real fans should attend the event. Fans go and boo because they arn't watching a boxing match....if they want a boxing match they should go to a boxing event not MMA....mixed martial arts.

the fans were over-doing the booing a lot tonight, I would give anything to be able to afford to be there and watch these fights and these jerks go and boo every damn fight, im not sure what type of action their looking for, this is not boxing with giant gloves, one punch or any one mistake ends the fight, bah its very frustrating watching it and hearing constant booing int he background

Its called MMA for a reason...The boos were really pissing me off last night...none of those people have the balls to step into the cage so why should they boo??

oh believe me the 2 drunks behind me had the balls to step in the ring. one was a chick that was saying that Diego Saraieva Vs. Dustin Hazelett both made over 200k (yes two hundred thousand) for each fight.
i was laughing my ass off from that comment.

I was at UFC 66 and it was far worse. Maybe cause I was there, but there were alot of "Who the hell is thiz boy?" types when Rampage was introduced as coming back. And when Mirko was introduced at UFC 66, one dumbass even said "Isnt he just a pride fighter?" then the boos reigned down.

I just think there are a lot of 40 year old adolescents, and trustees of modern chemistry in the audience. You know, the wife beating beer drinkin, still workin on his bike types that come to see blood and could care less about the sport. And they're losers. Plain and simple. These guys (if you go to the UFC events) even try to start **** with the fighters who are in the audience. My favorite drunk ass was in 2004 I was at a bar with Rampage and one guy asked him straight "Do they teach you to defend knees in your camp>?".....Of course referring to Quintons loss to Wanderlei... Freakin idiots, and yes I'm tired of them.

The fans did boo that first match with Cote-Smith. I think that was justified. Not that I think booing is cool, but fans want to express displeasure somehow. They still bought the ticket and filled the arena. They seem to come every event so far. So having to boo has not made people stop coming to the events. I know it sucks, but how else is a crowd supposed to let the fighters know that the fight is not entertaining? They kind of have to boo.

But, the fans did cheer Rampage when he entered the octagon. At least, that is how it seemed from the PPV. They seemed to cheer Rampage when he won his match. They also seemed to cheer for CroCop when he came to the octagon and when he won his fight. I also think that I heard cheers for Anderson Silva when he won. So, the fans were getting a few things right.

My wife and I were watching last night (in HD - looked amazing!) and we were both shocked and dismayed at the poor sportsmanship from the crowd. She made a really good point - the 'booers' seem like they'd rather be watching a WWF/WWE style fight - all scripted drama and no skill or art. I'm a fairly new MMA fan (been following UFC since the first TUF show), and I really think that the biggest thing that MMA has going against it becoming more mainstream are the 'fans' who are just out to see over-the-top action and lots of blood. They're the reason that the art in "Martial Arts" is often forgotten about by people unfamiliar with the sport.
