Randy Couture.... Anyone else.....
Randy Couture.... Anyone else scared of seeing him get back in the ring against anyone, just because he may get punished....
I think the loss to Chuck took a lot out of Randy, he is still a GREAT fighter, but his last performance was way below his normal self. Anyone else scared to see Randy fight a big name anytime soon? I think he needs a few warm up fights before going in against anyone big..... Just to protect Randy, I know he still has some years in him, but man I don't want to see him get hurt by someone at this point. He just seems like, I dun no, out of it maybe? Not the same Randy

Letīs not forget that he is 42. People always say Age is not important, thatīs nonsense. It maybe not important on the ground, but standing itīs really important. You need sharp and fast reflexes to move away from strikes, they donīt get better with age. If he want to win against Chuck, he needs to go for a real early knockout or take him to the ground for some serious GīnīP. As long as he doesnīt go in for a fist trade he is alright.
Itīs all about the reflexes, many boxers have said time and time again.. that they see the punches coming and want move away from them, but are too slow. So he needs to shift from striking to Gīn`P, which he is very good at.

randy is my favorite fighter but i see your point. i would not feel great about him getting in the cage with chuck next. he needs another fight first. i didnt think his last fight was as bad as many other did. he had a game plan and he stuck to it.
that said, nobody knows better then randy. he is a very smart guy and i dont think he would rush into a fight he didnt want just to prove something to the people who doubt him. he knows what he is capable of both in training and in the octagon.
i hope he gets the belt back before he retires (no disrespect to liddell, he is a great champ) so he can go out on top, but it is not going to be easy by any means.

Sheesh poor Randy...now suffering the fate of every athlete when it comes to age.Now no matter how experienced,EXPERTLY skilled, and sucessful his track record has been....just because of his age most want to label him as an underdog, every victory he has is a "OMG! comeback" win, etc.
Come off the age people.Sure age matters but not *THAT* much. He won't always be a top dog in the sport but a guy like couture will always be one of MMA's best as long as he continues to work hard like he always has to keep himself in peak condition and his skills sharp. In a few years he may not be able to take down *TOP* competition like Chuck or AA, but he'll still be able to beat above average fighters like ortiz like he did a few years back.
Someone as skilled as him can even adjust his overall game to make up for any disadvantages he gets from ageing, experience and skills can be just as much an asset in any arsenal. Should not be underestimated, anyone that goes into a fight with him thinking he is just an "old guy" will get mauled badly.
He is a huge inspiration to anyone in their late 20's/early 30's who might think its a bit too late to attempt to get into the sport.

Randy is ready for Chuck now. He said he wants to fight him now knows what his mistake was last time. Last few fighters have said Chuck is an eye poker too. Randy did get poked before Chuck KO'd him.
I say let them fight end of the year. next fight for either

Randy is the man. That is exactly what happened though. Randy was careless and allegedly let his anger get the best of him.
p.s. PghPens71 you might want to resize the Tanner pic.

Randy is def. one of the best.. and I also believe he has a couple of very good fights left. But to say age is not a matter, or not "that" important is not only untrue, but it is ridiculous.
To say a statement like that, would be saying that Randy could step into the Octagon with 60 or 70 or 80. Nonsense. You might see that in old Kung-Fu movies.. where the oldest Master is the best. But in real life, age is going to catch up with you. How could it not matter?
In my other posts I did mention that Randy needs to adjust his fighting to his age.. but at a certain age you are just not going to bring the efficiency or performance, like you did at 20 or 30 or even 40.
I am not saying Randy is over the hill, and too old to fight. I am just saying Age will catch up with him eventually. That is the law of nature.

yeah speaking of being careless. oh well, it was too gigantic for even I to shrink down past near life size. This'll do though, eh?!

I agree 100%. I sick of the "eye poke" conspiracy. It happens all the time when I'm fighting and it's not really the thumbs but the fist landing cleanly on your eye or bending a lash. So people, get over it!

Haha, it's cool. I was just like Whoa. I had to scroll like three times to get to the bottom.
As for Randy. I know some people disagree, but I really would like to see him make a run at HW before he retires. HW as you all know is dying for some better competition. Think about Andrei vs. Randy. Holy crap...

Couture said he got poked in eye, but he hardly called Chuck an "eye poker." Anyways, I'll think we'll see this fight before too long. Couture's not out yet.
