What I like about WoW is that I've been able to solo as much as I like at any level, and there's always been a region that's either perfectly balanced for my level, or a little harder if I want the challenge.

In every MMO I've played, there are people who see the game's only purpose as getting to max level and having the top gear asap, and that usually means getting powerlevelled by guildies. I kind of feel like the game's over at that point, so why not take your time and just play at your level and enjoy what it has to offer?

I also don't bother with larger instances for exactly the reason you say -- they eat up an unreasonable amount of time. If there's gear that I'll never get because I don't do them, that's cool.
I'm no powerleveler by any stretch, I take my time and fully enjoy each level I go through. That being said i'm a PvP gamer, I want to fight other players not mindless AI, never had a problem soloing nearly all quests with my rogue and definately no problem with my priest. It really does have a lot to do with your characters all being around the level 40 range. Once you get into the higher levels your time investement must either increase exponentially or you'll find yourself left behind on everything. I hate to say it but "you'll see". I was having a lot of fun till I got around level 58 and then it felt like a job. I did avoid the gear grind and and just focused on PvP but eventually if you want to fight the tougher people or kill 3-4 guys rather than just 1-2 or none at all you need better equipment, to get the better equipment you need to hit up the bigger instances, to get into the bigger instances you need to join a bigger guild (or pug and hope you don't get ninjad). Have fun while you can though, it was fun for me for quite a while, but when it does get old move on, it isn't worth it to get the better gear in the game because they'll just release better.
