The Jays start their season in Detroit and they won't be home until next week. Gonna try and catch their first game back.

The Mets won their opener tonight, and they're my other team. Been a Mets fan since the '99 NLCS when they showed as much heart as any team I've ever seen. That was when they lost the first three games and then magic happened and they battled back to force a seventh. That was that crazy year that the cops had snipers on Shea and the fans were whipping batteries at John Rocker, and game 5 was that CRAZY 15 inning game that ended with Ventura's grand slam (that only scored three because the team mobbed him before he crossed the plate). Both teams totally destroyed their pitching staffs over the course of the series, which made it easy for the Yankees to crush Atlanta in four.

I've only seen one game at Fenway, though. It was against the Mets and -- haha -- oh yeah. We sat up in the.... whatever you call that area at the top over first base where you can totally get up from your seat and stand and walk around. Anyway, before the game started this local dude asked me for a pen. I told him I didn't have one (true). He said, "Ya don't have a pen? What'a ya gonna do if ya run into Nomah and ya can't get his autograph because ya don't have a pen?" I just shrugged, but by about the third pitch to the Mets' leadoff hitter, he realized I wasn't looking for Nomar's autograph, and suddenly he wasn't so chatty with us.

Anyway, Fenway's an amazing park, and Boston's a pretty amazing baseball town.

I'm going to catch the 2007 World Champion Houston Astos tonight. It's against the Pirates, so things are looking good for a win. I love baseball.

That's hilarious. The part about the Astros winning the world series.

But it's the beaty of having the whole season ahead of you -- anything can happen. The Jays won their opener against Detroit, 5-3 in a ten inning nailbiter. So for tonight, we're undefeated.

Indians had a decent outing, brought the bats as usual with the start of the season. It's that middle of the season that kills us, maybe they just get bored.

Speaking of bored, Gary Sheffield (who's now playing for Detroit) got quoted by the media a couple of days ago saying, "I don't care about baseball. I don't even like it. I'm just a businessman."

God, as a fan that makes me sick. I realize money's a big part of it, but the game has such a history of kids who eat, sleep and breathe baseball growing up to realize their dreams of playing in the majors, and the stadiums are filled with people who'd kill to be where those guys are. And here you've got Sheffield hating it and doing it 100% for the paycheck.

My Braves beat the Phillies! I don't know why "experts" are picking the Phillies to win the division, their closer is Tom "Flash in the pan" Gordon. The Braves bullpen is looking strong and I think we have enough bats to make a run at the Wild Card.

Did someone say Dice Clay is going to win the Cy Young?

The Jays lost their second game against the Tigers, but it was another wild one. AJ Burnett (our very expensive #2 starter) gave up six runs in 2.5 innings and got yanked. It was 9-0 Detroit by the top of the sixth, and amazingly enough, Toronto pulled off a seven run 8th inning, but ended up losing 10-9. Crazy game. The third game got snowed out (It's APRIL! It's not supposed to snow once baseball season has started!!!!).

You could have been swept by the Pirates like the Asstros did.

I think the Cubbies are 0-2 so far as well. One of my best friends is a long-suffering Cubs fan.

Astros are my favorite team as well. That first series was horrible, but I think they will do well this year.
