that is also very impressive but is that 1010lbs. with a bench shirt? i would imagine that his "raw" bench could be as much as 300lbs. less. its amazing the differance a piece of cloth can have on a lift. the 1000lb. deadlift was thought to be impossible, its also considered to be the purest show of strength. Flex magazine has a great article about the record and why its so impressive.

thats the bench shirt he has on. it stores elastic energy to help push the weight up. its why the bench press records were being smashed left and right but the max deadlift has'nt moved much at all in decades. the samething goes for squats, guys wear special suits that do the samething as a bench shirt.

The amount these guys can lift is amazing! It took me years just to get to 275lb bench, I can't even imagine doing that much, shirt or no shirt!

from what the article said these guys are just naturally gifted. Andy Bolton ran track as a youth but became to heavy to compete and later on played Rugby until an injury forced him out. then oneday he went to the gym to lift weights with the idea of being a bodybuilder. Never having lifted weights before he was doing squats with 500lbs. and deadlifts with 600lbs..
