Roy vs. Tarver the epic
I watched the Jones/Tarver story on HBO. This fight gets more exciting to me by the day.. The first time they fought they were like 10. Since they have been on this colision course. When Tarver first started training after his drug abuse, he knew that he was going to beat Jones. Tarver went through a lot of stuff to get to where he is at today. No one would give him a chance. He didn't lose his focus. He fought his way up, and just as he finally gets a chance to fight Roy, Roy goes to Heavy Weight. After Jones beat Ruiz, in the press conference Tarver calls Roy out. Roy's pissed and pretty much says any time, any where. Well, Roy doesn't make the deal right away because he is waiting for Tyson. (he isn't trying to lose the weight). Well, of course the tyson fight falls through. Roy has to lose a lot of muscle in a short amount of time to make weight. It was a pretty close fight, but I had Tarver winning on my score card.
After I watched that special I had to go back and watch the Ruiz, Tarver I, and Tarver II fights. Jones stomped Ruiz. You could tell he wasn't in good shape fighting Tarver I. Tarver II, Roy was beating the hell out of him. Tarver was just plain and simple getting beat to the punch. It was a one punch wonder. Jones hit Tarver with a overhand right, Tarver automatically threw the left as a soft counter. Roy was on his way in with his own hook. Tarvers just got there first. It was a good punch. Although it was not an intended knock out punch. It was in terms lucky.
From what Roy said, he wasn't ready for the first fight. He didn't like how the first fight went, so he fought the second fight out of pride. He didn't have the aggresion to train or even fight Tarver. He felt that he has already accomplished all that he can in the LHW division. He wants to go HW.
Well, this fight seems to be a different story. Roy now has a reason to fight. To avenge his loss and to go down in history as one of the greatest boxers of all times. Also, to put that cap on his awsome career. He has his father in there with his other trainers. He is going to come into this fight with the eye of tiger (as he did when he beat Toney, way back when).
Reckoning day is almost upon us. RJJ and Tarvers careers are in the balance. Who ever wins this fight will finally know that they are the better boxer. It only took two decades to find out......

Flexing your muscles a little there. I can't believe that you or anyone else would care about that. Also, for your information if you look up pissed in the dictionary it says angry or irritated. Now if there was no "ed" on the end of it, that would be different.
I notice that everytime someone says something bad about Tarver, all of a sudden they need to watch their mouth or show respect. Put it on the table don't over use that moderator title.....

I live in Germany, no HBO here, but I hope to see it when they show the PPV here, usually they also show what HBO shows. I need to check the net if it is online somewhere.

Roy Jones in 04.
Do you wish to fight Tarver again? He keeps mentioning your name. "That's the only way people will listen to him - by saying my name."
Say my name, say my name..lol

Jeremy, well, I did care about that because I found your choice of words inappropriate: I asked you kindly to edit your post, you were neither warned nor attacked in any way. As you might know I am not a native speaker when it comes to English/American diction, so please show some understanding, if I make a mistake.
Personally I think you are very sensitive when it comes to Roy Jones Jr. You himself stated in another thread you despise Antonio Tarver - of course it is your own decision/emotion, but please be mature enough to respect an opinion that differs from yours.
It is disappointing that you believe I abuse my status here at FightForum and hide my true intention. Please review my posts: I am trying to be polite, mature and objective. We disagree when it comes to Saturday Night's fight, this is no problem for me, but - as I think - it is a big problem for you.
All I am trying to do is being a good moderator despite the fact English is not my mother tongue and being a valuable member who participates in interesting discussions.
If you feel I am doing a lot wrong, use the "report post" button or contact the administrator or one of the other moderators - they are all very objective.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you feel we need to talk about it in a more detailed way, please send me a private message so we can keep it off the public forum.

Bull,
First of all if you wanted this to be private you should have posted this in a private message. Second, the only time I have ever seen you ask someone to be respectful or watch their language is when they talk derogative about Tarver. Then you go and edit my post without even giving me time to edit it. That was very UN-COOL. To tell you the truth I had no idea what bad language you were talking about and neither did anyone else that I asked. I do respect your opinion about everything, but you go too far. Yes, I am sensitive about RJJ. He is my very favorite fighter of all times. If Im defensive about him, so what. That is exactly what a forum is for. Also, telling me to be mature. Come on now. I edit all my posts to be respectful and to watch my language to what I feel is acceptable. It seems to be acceptable to everyone but you. Doesn't that seem a little weird to you?

I had the same vision!
Everyone is saying Tarver is gonna knock Jones out, or Jones will last 12 rounds and win the decision.... I don't see either, I see Roy Jones knocking Tarver the hell out.....
I can't wait, I'm gonna be such an ass to all my friends and everyone I know who used to support Roy Jones, then jumped on the Tarver broke down wagon when he got lucky.....

I'm not worried about Tarver being more skilled than Roy. What I am worried about is whether or not Roy can take a decent punch anymore. That punch that Johnson hit him with wasn't that big of a shot and he crumbled to the mat.

your right
On that HBO special we were talking about one of the trainers was talking about being KO'd and never being able to take a punch again. He said it was after two big KO's too. Hopefully it passes the great RJJ...

I guess Lewis is living proof, that the theory is nonsense. He got KTFO by McCall and Rahmaan, came back and had a nice career.
