Default Racial comment from Anthony Johnson ?

Did I misunderstand him in his prefight interview or did he say " don't go crying to your momma because you were beat by a black man " ?

I hope I just wasn't paying attention and didn't hear him correctly.

It seemed weird, maybe he was just trying to sound tough or something and said something wrong, there could be lots of reasons. Or he just don't like white folk :P

Stupid comment and a racist comment. If that had been a white fighter saying that about a black fighter, it'd be all over the ESPN talking head shows and everyone would be making a HUGE deal about it.

Unfortunately you are absolutely correct. If that had been a white fighter that made that remark his career in the UFC would be over.

I was really hoping that I had misundestood what he said.

He's probably trying to mimic Rampage, except that Rampage is funny. Whatever the reason, it was stupid and unnecessary.

I think thats do to a lil thing called slavery and the racial injustice that exists to this day. Although I agree that it was stupid to say, but the fact is other than Rampage the brothers arent really doing great in MMA

Oh give me a phuckin' break! I get so sick of hearing the slavery excuse. The bottom line is that no American alive today (or their parents for that matter) was a slave or owned slaves. I am from the south. I have done extensive research into my geneology and have yet to find a direct ancestor of mine who owned a slave. I'm sick of getting the guilt trip. My family didn't own slaves! The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of families never owned slaves! Slavery wasn't brought on by "the white man." Slavery has been an issue throughout history and many of the slaves that made it to the Americas were traded into slavery by other AFRICANS! Slavery wasn't a white issue - it was a wealth issue. Those who had the money to purchase and maintain slaves did so. It was wrong, it was phucked up, but it happened. I just want to point out that most people did NOT own slaves. It seems to be a common misconception that every white person in the late 1700s to mid 1800s owned slaves - that couldn't be farther from the truth.

*hops off soapbox

Who the hell said slavery wasn't bad? Listen, all I stated was that it was actually a small percentage of the population that owned slaves. I didn't mention anything about the conditions of slavery - except for the fact that is was wrong and phucked up. Yep, I'm a racist... The notion that all white Americans "owe" blacks because of slavery is bull****. My family didn't own slaves. Why do I owe anything? Why should I be guilt tripped? I'm from western NC. The majority of western NC didn't even participate in the Civil War - we didn't have a bone to pick. We didn't like the elitist plantation owners either. In fact, most western NCers were actually Union sympathizers as they wanted the industries of the Union to come south to provide them with jobs. You can't convince most of the rebel flag waiving locals of that, but that's history. I'm sorry that a history lesson offends you and causes you to label me a racist.

It isn't just the slavery, which ended long ago, it's the institutionalized segregation which ended only a few decades ago, and the discrimination which still exists today, particularly in the South. But it's not only that, it's the ongoing economic and social consequences of being economically disadvantaged. It's going to take a long time to heal those wounds.

Its true that its still going on in the South but its not strictly a Southern problem. Ever been to Boston? I know you werent saying its only a southern problem but so many people think that the South is synonymous with racism and thats just not the fact. Its prevelant all over the country if you look for it.

I agree about segregation, but my argument is what has the current generation coming up done to discriminate against blacks? My generation had nothing to do with segregation. I agree with Martin Luther King Jr., I think all people should be treated equally and have equal opportunity. We should be held to the same standards. There is discrimination and racism, there is no "reverse" discrimination or "reverse" racism. Racism and discrimination are racism and discrimination regardless of where it originates and/or who or what group is targeted. How is affirmative action just? No white male is going to be hired strictly to "increase diversity." Why is OK to have minority only scholarships? I have black friends who absolutely HATE affirmative action. They hate to see minorities hired into positions solely to "increase diversity" so that a company can make the list of Most Diverse whatever or so that a university can qualify for more government endowments. You know why? Because they've worked their asses off to get to where they are and the fact that this happens cheapens the work that they've put in.

Wow, we're in this deep now! I like it! These are things that need to be discussed.

I am against racism and discrimination in any way shape or form. I don't care who it's coming from or who it's targeting. It's bull****. And the fact that the media (white media is the worst) will throw around the race card so much in an attempt to be politically correct just makes things worse IMHO.
