Default Mike Bisping WILL be fighting hamil

Michael BispingDespite rumors saying Michael Bisping will fight UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock at September’s London UFC event, The Ultimate Fighter 3 light heavyweight is still scheduled to face his original rumored opponent, Matt Hamill.

That’s the word from the ever-credible Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer.

The Fight Network issued a report yesterday stating Bisping would face Shamrock — not former castmate Hamill, as Ticketmaster first advertised over the weekend. However, despite a recent interview in which Shamrock stated he was planning a UFC comeback, his return to the Octagon won’t include a fight against Bisping on Sept. 8.

According to Meltzer:

Regarding rumors regarding the next UFC in London, England, Michael Bisping vs. Matt Hamill is still the scheduled match on that show. There are rumors regarding Bisping vs. Ken Shamrock, but that may have been discussed but it is not the current plan.

UFCjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, MMA news, UFC rumors, UFC gossip, fighter interviews and event previews and recaps - UFCjunkie.com) left a message with Hamill earlier today but didn’t receive an immediate response.

Although the idea of a Bisping vs. Shamrock fight was intriguing, it did seem rather far-fetched. However, that’s not to say the potential fight wasn’t discussed internally with the UFC’s matchmakers. Meltzer never ruled out the possibility.

Additionally, based on Shamrock’s recent interview with NBCSports.com, his return to the UFC wasn’t geared specifically toward a fight with Bisping, so we may very well see the 43-year-old back in the Octagon sometime soon.
i don't know whats going on, but i guess i prefer this fight.

I think Hammill poses more of a threat but Shamrock would be more exciting

Seems to me like Dana is feeding Mike Bisping a bunch of easy wins to build a rep up in the UK--Thus more pay per views sold there.

Thank god. I dont necesarily think this is a step back for Bisping. A lot of people(including me) wanted to see this fight on the show and now were getting it.

They probably read on FF how much we hated that Shamrock v Bisping idea and then decided to trash it.

I really want Shamrock to retire, I love the guy but he is becoming the joke of MMA as hard as it is to admit it. I really do not want him to be like Dan Severn, still fighting, but people with far from good records.

Hamill I guess should be ok. They are two people Dana wants to become stars so win win right? I think this should however be a easy win for Bisping, Hamill is not going to like eating so much leather so quickly.

This is not a roll over easy win for Bisping, and more Importantly this Is the fight that should of gone down In season 3 . The two of them were by far the best at 205 on the show and now we finally get to see the fight.

I guess I should be a bigger fan of Hamill, being as he grew up about a mile from where I am currently living, but his stand-up skill is so poor that I don't see the "block-a-punch-with-your-cheek-technique working out for him much longer in the UFC. The dude can't throw hands. I hate to say it, but I think he will be a pushover for anyone legit in the UFC.

I don't think I would call Matt and easy fight......The dude is probably the best wrestler they have in the UFC outside Randy.

He is crazy strong plus he probably has learned a lot since we last saw him.....All he really needed was a few subs and better stand-up.

Kos and Salmon are more accomplished wrestlers than Hamill. They were stars in Division 1 wrestling, Hamill was in Div 3. Salmon was invited to Olympic trials several times, and was ranked #6. Hamill won gold medals in World Games for the Deaf.

Hamill was a wrestling star, but not against top competition.

If he'd just learn to keep his hands up and defend his melon he'd be a lot better off. With Hamill's hands below his chest like that, and Bisping's speed, he's going to have a wide open target.

Hamill seems to do just enough to eek out a win. Saying Matt is a competitor is as cliché as boxing vs. mma threads, but Matt does find a way to win even if it's ugly--Wooooooooooo!
Still, I expect Bisping to hand Matt his first KO.

as much as i like bisping i dont know if he has the potential to become a contender, i think the ufc does though. the reason i say this is because i see some weak spots in his game, of course he can improve them but.. i dont think he'll last with another contender.
