I don't believe that most fighters negotiate their own contracts. A great deal of them have agents or managers that negotiate it for them. Chuck Liddell, for example, has spoken on a number of occasions about his agent, while Brandon Vera is currently believed to be seeking out a new management group (i.e. the supposed reason behind his long delay in his return to the octagon).

Sorry I get tired of fans complaining about pay for fighters, the fighters should be the ones complaining if they arn't making enough.

I think if they get paid too much like boxing, they could go into a fight lose and still get 12 million, there isn't as much motivation to win when you are making that much, but I don't know.12 mil, is a lot to me.
I wasn't trying to say the fighters should be getting paid millions - just enough so they can trian all year round without ever having trouble taking care of their families.

I agree. Any fighter should be able to make enough to have a basic standard of living. I hate when I hear that some guy in the UFC has a full-time job. That's asking too much, all that training and a family and a forty hour work week. It's an inequity too when a guy like that can't train to his inability and has to face a guy who trains and fights full time.

Maybe the guys at the bottom of the food chain should be on salary and have to fight four times a year.
