Dennis Kang Considers UFC offer..and Others
Here is a full article, it will be awesome if he decides to come to the UFC, but he makes it clear in the article its all about money and exposure.
“The number one thing is going to be financial. We’re looking at different factors, such as the level of exposure that the organization can bring me and the talent I can go up against. I want to fight anyone that’s on top. I think the No. 1 guy in my division [185 pounds] right now is Dan Henderson. You’ve also got Anderson Silva, who’s real tough, out there, and there are guys like Rich Franklin. It’s such a deep division. I don’t want any easy fights. I want the best fights, the hardest fights…. Just the exposure alone [in the UFC] is worth heavy consideration. It’s something I want a piece of. Every time that I go to corner a friend [or] a teammate at a UFC, or if I just go to watch, I realize I have a lot of fans. Everybody always asks me when I’m going to be fighting in the UFC. It just depends on who is going to make the right offer.”
– Talented middleweight free agent Denis Kang tells FightNetwork.com that he is in negotiations with several organizations such as the UFC, BodogFIGHT and EliteXC. He expects to make a decision this week but says it’s all about the Benjamin’s.

MW needs another couple of contenders, and Kang and Henderson would be my first choices.

Denis Kang is one of my favorite fighters right now. My friend that trains at ATT says that Kang is in incredible shape and I have no doubt that he would be an immediate contender to challenge for the MW belt.

Kang is the guy that I want for MW from PRIDE. He is well rounded and fun to watch because he does so many things well.

Kang is the guy I want to see in the UFC from PRIDE as well. I like watching him fight. He seems smart, well-disciplined, and applies himself both in and out of the ring (or, hopefully, the octagon). He has the role model like attitude. He reminds me of a Fedor type minded fighter, even if the fighting styles are comlepetely different or not. Nothing but good could come from Kang coming to the UFC. The UFC ought to be willing to pay a good cut to Kang to bring what he has to offer.

If guys like Kang continue to come over we will begin to reconsider who is good in the UFC. Guys who were up and comers before will be a distant memory.

Right now being top ten is considered awesome.
Soon, being top 20 or top 25 will be considered awesome, LOL.

That's been Henderson's weight class for a long time, dude. Pride's MW is 205.
Edit: I posted this and logged off and then remembered that I'm only half right. 205 is MW in Pride, but Henderson went up from 185 to fight Wanderlei. Just clarifying before someone busts me for the error.

Kang is one of the best fighters in the world IMO. I would love to see him fight Anderson, Franklin, Hendo, Marquat, and Been known for how good he really is!
For those who dont know... Kang is like a bigger GSP. He has better stand up imo. About the same wrestling. Better BJJ. He also has cardio. He will clean up in the ufc or where ever he decides to go!

Let's not exaggerate. Kang is great, but he's 27-8-1 and he's lost to guys like Mayhem and Dirty Doerkson. He's young, he's well-rounded and explosive, but he's beatable. I would say GSP has proven himself to be on a higher level than Kang with the guys that he's beaten and the fact that he's already held a major world championship.

Somehow I think Kang is going to sign a 3 fight deal with EliteXC or Strikeforce because they're going to throw a bucket of money at him. I expect that to be about 1.5 years and then he'll go to the UFC. I'd love to see him go straight to UFC, but if it's all about the money I imagine his best offer won't be from Zuffa. As far as exposure... he could fight Ninja immediately for the EliteXC title, then a fight against Cung Le, and then Frank Shamrock for the Strikeforce title. That's a lot of exposure right there, he'd be headlining a lot sooner with those guys than with the UFC.

Kang is on a role now. I agree that he is similar to GSP except his wrestling ability. GSP is a very underated wrestler. But as far as striking goes i'd give the edge to Kang. I haven't seen to much of GSP's BJJ but Kang's is real good. He transitioned from being a mediocre fighter losing to guys like Miller and Doerkson- to being one of the best in the world. No doubt in my mind that Kang would crush both of them guys today.

No doubt, Kang completely turned his career around. His striking is tremendous, his BJJ is very good, and he's working with a great camp so he's only going to get better. He's definitely a big part of the future in the 185# weight class regardless of where he signs.
