I don’t understand why some states allow transports and hospital duty with only one officer. We always send two, one armed and one unarmed so that the inmate never gets close enough to the armed officer to get his weapon.

Same chit happened in our department. Fella was in on obstructing/assault police, felony weapons charges etc....he was goin away for a while. The guy was a serious alchoholic, he was in hospital due to liver damage.

He went for the officers gun, officer stopped him, slapped the dog chit outa him and charged him.

Friggin circuit court let the dude off due to his medical condition. The guys wife is a doctor, she had other doctors state the prisoner was gonna die within the year so the judge/prosecutor dropped charges. I personally think it was a big skam. Yes he had liver damage but I dont think the guy was near death.
