Nick Diaz wants Frank Shamrock
Courtesy of GracieFighter.com:
Quote:
Nick Diaz, who is signed with ProElite, has requested to face Frank Shamrock as soon as possible. After a spectacular win against Takanori Gomi, Diaz seems intent on enrolling himself for higher profile fights. With both fighters fighting in the same organization this fight seems the logical next step in what would be as an MMA fan's dream come true.
"I watched his last fight and no disrespect intended but I think I would whoop his ass.", stated Diaz. A formal offer of intent has been delivered to the promoters to set this fight up and now we await their response.

Thats awesome. I think that Diaz could win this fight on the ground. His striking is good enough to avoid any major damage standing and I dont think that Frank would have an answer for Diaz's bjj. I think that Frank would be vastly stronger than Diaz but thats about the only advantage I could see him having.
It would also be interesting to see Diaz fight in the 185 lb devision. I dont see Frank dropping down after beating Baroni for the title.

Could be an entertaining fight, but that's a lot of quality weight for Nick to gain to get up to 185. Frank is probably going to be out for 6 months to a year depending on the knee so I guess we could see this eventually but it'll be a while.
It could potentially be an exciting fight, but I think Shamrock would overwhelm him with power.

Am I the only one that thinks that Frank would hurt Diaz?

It all depends on the shape that Diaz shows up to fight in. If he just starts eating to put on the needed weight, then ya, he probably will. If he adds muscle to make the weight, then we might see an even better Diaz than what showed up against Lawler or Gomi.

I think diaz is trying to get a huge pay day, he saw what baroni did and now hes trying to get his. This fight would also be a win/win situation for diaz and another lose/lose for shamrock. I would still pay to see this fight though of course.

I agree with lwbfl. I think Nick's body type could get seriously injured by Franks' massive strength.
NIck could use his pro boxing maybe and reach to his advantage over a shorter Frank, and of course his BJJ is also superior, but I'd suspect that Frank would resort to some brutal wrestling and maybe slam Nick's body all over the place.
Again, it all depends like you all said on if Nick can gain quality muscle weight to at least contend with Frank.
It could be a good fight though. Never understimate Nick.

Nope.....I hope if they do fight Nick gets owned LoL
I like frank as a fighter and he looked really good for someone with an injury in his last fight, Nick better watch out.
That said Diaz probably does have the power to KO Frank but I think frank also has that and better ground skills.

I disagree with both of those statements.
I don't think Nick really has the KO power to knock out Frank.
He wears guys out by dishing out a lot of those lighter punches to the face.
I think Baroni for example has better KO power than Nick.
And I think Diaz has the better BJJ. But Frank is good on the ground too, and his size and wrestling could give him the advantage in this fight.

So would this be a EXC fight ? Isn't Frank still under the strikeforce deal ?
I guess it would be another EXC/StrikeForce show <_<
Anyway I'm more into Gina's next fight then anything else in EXC but I'd like to see Nick's eyes rolled back a lil bit.
I would rather see Frank face Cung Le since their was some talk about that...

wow this would be an awsome fight, I think Frank needs an ass whoopin so he's not so cocky, although it could go either way i'm routing for Diaz if this really does happen.
Nick IMO deffinitly can't KO Frank but has better ground skills, also WAY better conditioning in my opinion from watching Franks last fight.

I think Nick is way worse then Frank.......I don't remember Frank going over to Japan and flipping off the audience for no reason at all and saying F-U.....Frank just loves him self more then anyone can and talks a lot of crap and he is nuts so it makes for a fun in fight show Nick is just a jerk and a total @%@% HOLE like every time I have seen the guy he can't even talk without saying F this F that F you every other word.
Plus Franks skills are no joke anyone that tries to say his skills are not good is just flat out hating..... That's not aimed at anyone LoL just saying

I think Frank at 100% will beat Diaz up either standing or on the ground.
Frank is no joke either on the ground and he is comfortable on the ground so Diaz will have his hands full if this fight happens.

Nick's a character....a bit crazy but entertaining nonetheless. I'm a big Diaz fan but not sure I'd wanna watch him face Frank Shamrock...but you never know what'll happen...right? right?

No. I think Frank Shamrock would rip him apart. He's just as tough, but he's bigger, stronger, more experienced, and I would assume he trains a lot harder.

Elite-XC is good at putting together fights where i root for a double KO. Frank takes this by size advantage and superior wrestling. I won't be suprised if Nick pulls out a sub though.

I think Frank is the superior fighter of the two. His ground game is great and his striking has come very far since his old days. His cardio was not great against Baroni but he admitted to not training cardio. He out lasted Tito, Tapped Horn, and has alot of experience against bigger fighters. His takedown defense is not so good but against Diaz that might not come into play. Even with all that Diaz is a scrapper and might be able to suprise some of us....again.
