Default Pride vs. UFC

we've all kicked around the idea of a UFC vs. Pride showdown and we generally agree that it is'nt going to happen. what does seem to be happening is that Pride is putting on shows with top notch fighters that don't dissappoint. while the UFC is having trouble putting on shows that even have a quality main event. from what i read on this forum there is often a mixed reaction to UFC events with most people feeling it could have been better. Pride seems to have alot of action in all of its weight classes while UFC only has two classes with any depth. Pride travels the world offering auditions while the UFC puts on a reality show. i am beginning to think that the UFC is losing more ground to Pride than it can ever gain back. this comes down to a simply question, which promotion has the better management? i pick Pride hands down. the Pride execs knock the UFC guys out in the first round.

EDIT: Pride is now courting Tito Ortiz as well, while not the most popular fighter with Dana White he is always going to be a draw. the UFC gets a yellow card for holding up the action.

i agree with you 100%. i have made a rapid transition to a huge PRIDE fan. i still love the guys in the UFC but im sick of Dana White and the rest of the organization feeding us crap. they dont try to recruit top talent they find some nobody they dont have to pay and try to pass him off as a superstar. they do all this without trying to keep the legit fighters they already have. its like them trying to sell us a chevette only their callin it a corvette.

here's a good question? how many of the guys from TUF 1 actually got UFC contracts? it seems like just about all of them are fighting at some level, even if its only the preliminaries that don't air on PPV. what's the point of having an elimination type show and still having more than just the winners in the UFC?

The winners got big contracts. All the other guys are fighting for small stakes.

UFC needs to recruit talent instead of drama this drama that on there TV show. I love TUF but the 2nd season is horrible and i dont even watch it. I cant give an opinion on Pride because ive never really watched it, except highlight reels on FSN or ESPN, whichever one it was.

I think UFC still has potential, except Dana takes everything to personally compared to just being a business man... if you notice you rarely see the PRIDE president getting into public confrontations like we see with Dana and all the fighters he holds personal grudges against.

I see the UFc as on the rise. PRIDE FC is already up there, but they have NOT hit their full potential as a marketing machine. The UFC has been mobile with its efforts to better market their product. The TUF1 and TUF2 shows are excellent in that they hit two markets that attract new fans: Reality TV and sports. The WWE did it first a few years ago with Tough Enough on MTV. The Spike TV TUF shows are modeled on the Tough Enough success.

Now, they need to build on that, which means more programs that will attract new and older fans alike. The UFN show is a BIG step, even if it does run up against both the WWE RAW program and the NFL MNF shows. The WWE has owned Monday night for about 15 years now...

I am definitely becoming a bigger and bigger fight fan. There's certain fighters that I love to watch that are in UFC and they keep me watching but with all this crap going on with the media and stuff...

One thing about PRIDE and UFC is I hate the way they try to boost certain fighters, not that it's a certain fighter really just like UFC boosts TUF fighters and Pride boosts the Japanese fighters.

Something the UFC should do is get some real fighters from KOTC and such and let them beat down the hated members of TUF so they wouldnt have to worry about losing any of the more mature fans or any of the ones that just picked up on UFC from TUF... if that post was even legible?

Uhm, several of the TUF1 fighters have had KOTC experience. Look them up on Sherdog, and you will be surprised...

i know that some of them do but what I meant was that they seem to rely on the new talent to come from TUF. Just like someone said how Pride goes everywhere to try and find fighters.
