Headkicks
Is it just me or are we seeing headkicks being utilized more in MMA
for example GSP vs Hughes 2, Rashad vs Salmon, GG vs CC, Heath vs Nog.
I think this is a primary example of the evolution of MMA. People are starting to realized the effectiveness of this technique, that formerly was used mostly for show. I think many fighter's do not train head kicks but we will start seeing them utilized more often in MMA.

Yeah, I mean they have always been used, but they have really been more effective recently. Obviously, Gary Coleman got caught with a great headkick in the early UFC and Babalu got caught with a beautiful headkick by Chuck at UFC 40, so they have always been around ending fights, but they are being used more now and I think its good as it is an unexpected strike which would be difficult to defend unless you faced a fighter known for those type of strikes.

If the fighter is proficient enough with them, I'm all for it. If they're not?
They'd better be careful. Too much can go wrong if it doesent land.

Gary Coleman, hahaha. I know you meant Mark, but that was funny. I would love to see what would have happened if Petie Willams kicked Gary Coleman in the head.

Ahh yeah haha, now that would be a guy I wouldn't really be pleased to see in any ring whatsoever, not good with the remembering of first names.

Yeah leg kicks do seem to be a larger trend now. But I think it may just be a coincidence. Gary Goodridge has had a couple great high kicks, given and recieved in the older days so nothing that new. Many others ofcourse.

I think it takes a lot of accuracy to throw head kicks effectively in the UFC. If you miss you could easily be taken down or knocked out.
