Just Got Back From Pennsylvania

So I was down in Pennsylvania for about a week playing in a International Baseball tournament. As I was their I was able to talk to people from Japan, Holland, and Australia. The most interesting chat I had was with an American player. Now we started to talk about the living conditions in both our respective countries. Once I mentioned the Free Health Care System he didn't realize how good we have it. He almost broke into tears telling me a story about how his dad needed heart surgery a couple years back and that he was not wealthy enough to afford it. Few days later he said that his dad had passed away. Now this isn't a shot to the American Government but I seriously think that they need to develop a system like Canada. His story really got to me and got me thinking about what if it happened to me. Just thought I would share that with you all and want to hear your thoughts on the situation.

we complain alot in the UK about the NHS but we dont realise how lucky we are, my dad snapped his achilles tendons on saturday night and went to the doctors today and was in a cast within an hour all free of charge, he is out for 12 weeks

Befroe I had insurance I sparained my ankle and went to the emergency room. Thought I may have broken it or torn some tendons which is why I decided to go. It was only a sprain and it cost me $1200. x-rays alone were over $800. That is ridiculous.
