Bisping Overated???
I dont know for sure; I believe Hamil is the exact kind of fighter to beat him. Hamil will take him down at will and beat on him the entire fight, while it last anyway. I dont care who he trains w/ either; it will take longer then a few months training w/ anyone to defend take-downs against Hamil.
Bisping has beaton a few fighters but I believe the UFC feeds him opponents he can beat (usually) to keep him hyped up to appeal to the UK crowd.

I do think he's a bit overrated. I think he's a talented young fighter that will be around awhile, but he has yet to face top competition. Sinosic just about caught him, but to his credit, up until he was almost caught, Bisping was dominating the fight then he quickly recovered and finished the fight. He wouldn't be favored over any top 10 UFC LHW.

Yes but he's still better than Hamil, not that I dislike Hamil, just saying.

everyone who wins TUF gets branded overrated all the time.
Stevenson, Bisping, Sanchez, Diaz, Forrest, Grove are not all overrated just good fighters who are up and coming, once they have been in the UFC for a certain amount of time we wil see them make thier mark (if they havnt done so already)

I agree. I don't think he's overrated at all. We have to remember the fighters have to grow so to speak, grow for a bigger money-making fight for the UFC. I find Bisping quite entertaining myself. I really hope Matt Hamill has improved his stand up and defense because the last fight I actually watched he won, but he didn't have very good defense of any nature, especially in striking. That fight was a while ago and I didn't see his most recent fight becuase it wasn't shown....or did I just miss it?? I have Bisping by TKO.

I agree with nimmer and Majesty. Just because someone gets their brake in TUF doesn't mean they wouldn't have anyway. It's just a way into the UFC. I think Bispin is gonna keep smackin Hammill in the mouth and will stuff a couple of takedowns before Hamill takes it to the ground. Once on the ground Bispin will use his BJJ and armbar or triangle choke Hamill into a submission. Probably in the first round.
I really liked Hamill in TUf (sorta felt sorry for him also) but unless he's improved a lot, he's only got his wrestling. And Bispin has alot more tools.

I don't think Bisping's talent is overrated, I simply think his skills are overrated. I've heard of people talking about Bisping challenging for a title shot. I've seen Bisping show up on a few UFC LHW top 5 lists. That's just crazy. Who has he beat? He's a talented young fighter with a bright future, but he has a long way to go to be a title contender. This is the problem with TUF. The UFC makes sure the TUF champs get several cans to build up their record and build up their reputation. It's tough to really get a feel for how good a TUF champ is until a few years after that TUF and they finally start getting some real fights. I mean, Rashad Evans just recently got his first fight against REAL competition when he fought Tito.

I say put Bisping and Evans in the ring and let them go at it. Whoever gets KOTF is overrated. There is not enough info on Bisping to know where he stands. Sinosic put him in trouble and, usually, Sinosic is an easy victim to any top fighter. So, have him fight Evans and let's conclude this chapter.

Personally I think he is overrated but I guess we won't really know until he fights some of the better fighters. IF he gets past Hamill I would expect the UFC to begin to put him in the Octagon with some better competition.

I haven't really heard anywhere that he is God's gift to the LHW division so I'd go with no, he's not overrated. Sure we see a lot of him because he's got a great personality, he's marketable (especially in the UFC's newest market the UK) and he's well known from the show but other than that I actually think he's one TUFer that is right where he should be at this point in his career. I like Bisping but I agree with the poster that said Hamil is just the type of fighter to beat him and I like Matt in this fight.

Until he faces a good opponent, we really have no way to tell. If he gets past Hamil, he will probably get a better opponent and we will be able to tell.

To me , overrated is when people are calling you the next big thing in MMA when you havent showed any reason to do so. Or someone who fights a bunch of nobodies but looses to tougher competition and still recieves the same praise. Neither of which has happened with Bis. So id say no , hes not overrated.

I find myself thinking more and more about the topic of over rated fighters, "I don't listen to their ratings." The hype around the fighter takes away my love of MMA. So I look at their record, fights, and how they perform. I have enjoyed Bisping's performances and intelligence. He has wit.

I just think Bisping gets all this scrutinizing because he comes from a reality show. He may or may not be a great fighter but the bottom-line is that the UFC is always trying to cash out on their TV stars as much as possible (Koscheck, Griffin, Bonnar, Evans, Sanchez, Leben, Swick...), keeping some of them engaged in UFC events simply because they come from TUF.
Let us not forget that each TUF season always has a theme. And the theme has never been "the best fighters in the world." Consequently, the UFC is full of folks who, had it not been for the show, they would have never made it there.
Bisping may turn out to be the real deal but, IMO, all the scrutinizing by the fans is justified.

Other than TUF 4, I dont remember any themes at all. Maybe I am missing something.
I dont think Bisping is over rated. He is still learning and working his way up. I havent heard anyone saying he deserves a title shot or anything. I think Bisping is farther along than Hammil, so I see a second round TKO.

Yeah but i wasnt really considering that a theme. I thought he was talking about like TUF 4: The Comeback.

As a matter of fact, I was considering weight class a theme as well. Thus my comment. And when the UFC decides to have a whole lot of fighters of the same weight, there are definitely going to be some bad and mediocre ones (aka Monstah or The Yellow Peril). That was the point I was trying to make.
