I don't remember it being this dramatic. Bonds will break the record and will get recognition. BUt he isnt the true home run king.
Sandhara Oh 864!!! (I THINK LOL)

And how are you judging this? Because they haven't failed any steriod tests? Well, neither has Barry.
My initial argument aside, how can you say with certainty that ANY player is clean during this era? With the exception of the past couple of years, no player was tested so we'll never know who was clean and who wasn't. A-Rod and Pujols both were playing before testing was implemented, so you can't justify sweeping statements like that.
Barry is simply the poster child (whipping boy?) for the steriod era. If you're quick to blast him, you'd better be prepared to be disgusted at half the players in the league.

This is particularly the most abused myth in the hunt for Bonds. He never admitted to taking HGH or steroids, his grand jury testimony stated that his trainer have him an arthritis cream and flaxseed oil, dubbed "the cream" and "the clear". While I too think that Bonds took illegal substances, let's not confuse the facts.

There is no comparison between a Roger Clemens ten years ago to now, to a Barry Bonds ten years ago to now by size.

Ehem... I hate to break it to you, but...
Clemen's rookie year weight: 200
Clemen's now: 235
When I was 21, I weighed 155 lbs. Now, I'm 34 and weigh about 180. I'm still in good shape and yet I haven't taken steroids or HGH. How in the world do you explain the weight gain? It's called aging, "filling out", whatever you want to call it. A ton of proven steroid users weren't BIG at all, like Jason Grimsley, Wally Joyner, Alex Sanchez, Guillermo Mota and on and on.

I kinda look at it the way I looked at it when Mgwire broke the single seasn Maris HR record. No big deal because barry is gonna break that soon. And he did, like 2 years later.
Same with Career HR's with barry. More than likely in 5-6 years, AROD (Who averages 40+ HR's every year, is gonna smoke Barry's record.
So right now I don't really care to be honest.

"Everyone in our front office has known about Bonds since the 2001 season," said San Francisco-area accounts-receivable secretary Mindy Harris of McCullers and Associates, Ltd. "People in our ninth-floor office, too, and all seven branch offices. None of us were sure exactly which kind of steroids he was on, but we were pretty sure it was the kind that causes you to gain 30 pounds of muscle in one offseason, get injured more easily, become slow-footed, shave your head to conceal your thinning hair, lash out at the media and fans, engage in violent and abrupt mood swings, grow taut tree-trunk-like neck muscles, expand your hatband by six inches, and hit 73 home runs in a single season."
"Come to think of it, we're all fairly certain he's on all of them," Harris added.

The only difference is Clemens is fat now not ripped. His weight gain looks like it's from potato chips.

Barry has not just filled out. His head and feet have grown. He is not the least bit fat. I think Roger has just added on some fat.

witchhunt continues...
barry probably did steroids, but so did MANY pitchers he had to face... is it fair to have normal clean batters going against juiced up pitchers?
i think barry sucks personality wise but hes a great hitter and deserves more credit then hes getting

Gary Sheffield stated that he knew for sure that Barry Bonds was using steroids. It was on REAL Sports With Bryant Gumbel. The following story is where the steroids and Sheffield crossed paths.Barry Bonds, who has worked-out in the past with Gary Sheffield in the off-season, has recently been linked in media reports with the controversial Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative. Bonds admitted to having used a "product that contained a steroid." He also admitted in using steroids to improve his game. "The fans are very angry with Gary. Most want him out of Detroit," replied Michael Ilitch (Detroit tigers owner).
Sheffield has never admitted to using steroids. During a workout with Barry Bonds in 2001, a cream was applied to Sheffield's knee by a trainer to help heal ripped stitches from a knee surgery. Sheffield states in his book, Inside Power, that he had no knowledge of the cream containing steroids, and had no reason to assume so at the time. He goes on to say in his book that the cream did nothing to strengthen his knee. He also states that a look at his numbers shows no improvement of his numbers after the incident. On HBO, Sheffield said "Without a doubt" when asked if Barry Bonds uses steroids.
I personally will never consider Barry Bonds to be the best baseball player and I have no respect for his recent HR record. The ONLY defense for what he has done would be that many of the pitchers he has faced have also used steroids. But, the cloud that hangs over the HR record and any other accomplishments from Bonds will always be a dark cloud that over-shadows the achievements.
Also, on ESPN the other day, one of the guys that is part of the HoF voting stated that he would not vote for Barry Bonds.
