Nimmy - paint drying to hyped music would probably look fun too.

If soccer hasn't caught on by now in America as a major sport it most likely never will.

Well, it does require running for 90 mins straight and technical ability bayouboy, yea am pretty sure its chances of mainstream in the US are quite slime

I actually see football becoming quite big in the US in the next 10 years, the latent potential is amazing and with good shows in the World Cup it definately looks promising.

MMA is gonna help football in the US too id reckon, as more people realise watching guys constantly in action is better than timeouts is actually cool, theyre will be more interest going into it, but Beckham getting fame there is really pouring poison in an open wound for the chances, he is god awful lol.

Quit dreamin buddy, football (soccer) will never become big in the US. Us Americans are too used to fast-paced, flashy, high-scoring, high-adreline games (American football, basketball, baseball to a point) to ever be interested in football (soccer). It may reach the level of, say, hockey, but it'll never be "big".

That being said^, I LOVE watching the World Cup. Last summer (i think it was), I'd find myself getting up early in the mornings to watch 90 minutes of Country VS Country action. I can't tell you why I watched it, maybe because of the incredible atmosphere in those games. Football (soccer) fans are some of the best fans of any sport in the world. I don't follow the MLS in America, though, mainly because it lacks the atmosphere that the World Cup had.

I do agree with you about David Beckham (sp?), though. He is being constantly shoved down our throats by ESPN and the like. Most people who are excited to see him come, are excited becuase of his "star" power. As soon as those people actually watch him in football (soccer) they'll say, "He's not so good, he never scored!", and that'll be the end of it. It doesn't really help that he's injured now, either.

Maybe if the US had like 2 or 3 teams that would play in the same league as the big World-wide teams, than I might follow it. But, that's hoping way too much. It would be freakin sweet to see like a 20 + team league, comprised of the best teams in the world!

Hahah...some guys at ESPN are losing their jobs at the end of this season then, all he has is a pretty good cross.

Am more worried about the LA gangs finding his address, $250,000,000 US dollars for marketability, ala of the MTV kind is just an organised criminals wet dream target.

Dunno where you get American Football being high adrenaline, saw 1 match in person and it put me to sleep, literally, and watched a superbowl match which equally wasnt up to much, and basketball ummmm. Ice Hockey is the best mainstream sport in the US imo, but maybe am biased for being a white guy with a short attention span who knows.

You did say an amazing idea though, putting 5 of the top US club teams in either the central or southern american Club tournaments, would be EXTREMELY good publicity, and ofcourse the games would be amazing, wouldnt reckon there would ever been a chance of them getting into Europe though, locations are too far off and then you got the politics...

Does seem extremely cool though, but in any case I hold true to my origional predictions, in 10 years give or take, the US will be a rising star in the world futbol stage.

Well, I hope you're right. The more sports the better.

I dont find football (aka soccer) boring, I am a Manchester United who are reknowned for there attacking football, and we showed the premiership it could win titles last season.

I dont see why every is having jabs at David Beckham, he is still an awesome football player and he will most prob help LA Galaxy a lot. Its the media thats giving him the attention, its not his fault.
