‘Dangerous’ Dan vs. ‘Sloppy’ Jackson
Quote:
Gearing up for biggest fight ‘in MMA history’
Henderson-Jackson bout matches best of UFC, Pride powerhouses
By David Avila

TEMECULA, Calif. - Dan “Hollywood” Henderson yearned to fight in America after building a fearsome reputation for years in Japan.
Then the Temecula, Calif., resident received word he was about to fight on a card for Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Goodbye, Japan. Hello, stateside.
Henderson’s first fight on a UFC card takes place Sept. 8 against the UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (27-6) in London, England.
London?
“I have to admit I was a little disappointed to find out I was fighting in London,” Henderson said. “I’m famous in Japan but nobody knows me in my own country. I was hoping to fight here.”
If not for the chance to add the UFC light heavyweight title to the Pride middleweight and welterweight titles he now possesses, Henderson might have passed on the opportunity.
But this is big.
“It’s the biggest fight of my career,” Henderson said. “It’s a chance to become an undisputed champion in MMA.”
For years, Pride Fighting Championship and UFC battled for control of the MMA world, including legitimacy of its champions.
This past year saw UFC purchase Pride FC, adding its coterie of fighters, including Henderson, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Antonio Nogueira to its stable of top-flight fighters.
Pitting Henderson against Jackson boggles the MMA mind, with fellow UFC fighter Jason Miller calling it "the biggest fight in the history of MMA."
Jackson, who knocked out Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell last May to rip the UFC title away, has sparked the interest of fans eager to see whether Henderson’s ground skills and punishing punches can test him.
“He has some sloppiness in his game that I can take advantage of,” said Henderson, who is three inches shorter than Jackson. “He hasn’t looked particularly good in his last two or three fights.”
Preparation is key, Henderson said.
“Dan Henderson is so good on the ground,” said Jorgen Kruth, a K-1 fighter helping Henderson with his stand-up fighting skills. “I think Dan Henderson should win this.”
From October 1999 to the present, Henderson has not fought on American soil. He has built a reputation in Japan for fighting skills that enabled him to defeat Nogueira, Renzo Gracie, Murilo Rua, Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva among others.
“It was great fighting in Japan. They have the best and most knowledgeable fans in the world,” Henderson said.
Now both Henderson and Jackson travel to the United Kingdom to fight before spectators not known for being blathering MMA fans. It’s still fairly new to the British Isles.

I think Quinton will take it. Despite all the evidence I'm not so sure of Dan's ability.

One can and will continue to argue that Matt Lindland is a superior wrestler at best to Henderson, and at least a little bit better than Hendo.
Rampage handled Lindland in a close one. And managed a few slams vs Lindland, an Olympic Silver medalist in Grecco.
Hendo has to win this on his feet.

Feel kind of bad for Hendo, been waiting all this time to fight in the US and he still hasn't gotten the opportunity, I'm sure once he beats Rampage he'll get a chance though.

obviously all the fighters say they like the japanese fans best... i wont even dispute that... but since hendo is now a UFC fighter why continue to say taht? instead he needs to focus on winning over the US fans... the fact that he is not known here is a measure of prides awful US marketing and not the fault of the UFC or its new fans

Ill be expecting hendo to pull this off, the only disappointing thing in this match up is that its taking place at all because liddel got caught being lazy.

I guarentee if hendo wins he will be the new UFC sensation and if he loses he will be just a Prider trying to "make the cut" or some bs like that.

I know Dan Hendersen is a heck of a fighter, but I don't think he wins this one. Especially, if Rampage comes out like he did against Chuck, and I think he will. Rampage made some changes in his camp, and it may be a little premature, but I think it's going to show.

Hendo will take this one, I can't see Jackson finishing Hendo and belive Hendo will wear Jackson out.

I admitted I was going against the evidence.
It's just when I watch Dan, nothing stands out as amazing, not his striking or his wrestling. He seems to rely on persistence and chin. Which I don't think will be enough against Quinton. But I haven't seen all the dvd's.

Rampage looked sloppy in his last two fights give me a break he beat lindland who I thought would tear quinton up then he knocks out Chuck in like 30sec.IMO the only chance Hendo has is catching him with that right but I still thank Rampage will destroy him

Dan will win this fight for the simple fact he is better then Jackson and is not effected by hype. He goes in the fight knowing what to do and wins.. he will not be effected by the fact it's his first fight and it's the championship.. fact is Jackson has WAY more on the line.

I think its gonna be a close fight. Whoever brings their best that night is gonna win, and I feel that Rampage is going to pull it out. Whats great about this fight is that you almost are 100% it will end with a TKO/KO.

Agreed. All the wrestling in Lindland's aresenal couldnt put rampage away and neither will Hendo's.
The only way I see Hendo winning this is by some devastating hook that Rampage doesent see coming, and even then he might not do it.
Rampage by TKO round II

I like those odds my friend. Unless they dance around I don't see this leaving the first round. I've been wrong many times before but, that is how I see it.
Can't wait, Aug 25 to Sept 22 is goning to be off the hook. So many fights with so many different outcomes.

Is that the best threat title you could come up with? Either I just dont get it or its bashing on Jackson a bit and Im not sure why since his the 205 champ.
