I know everyone has been waiting for an explanation to the whole "team ****" situation and all the drama surrounding it. I am not going to get into too much detail, but I will voice some of my main concerns.
I first of all want to say that I completely back the FightForum staff and the measures that have been taken to resolve these issues. I want everyone to realize that the staff works together, as a team, behind the scenes to make the tough decisions that we feel will uphold the standards and integrity of this community.
It is easy to point the finger at the people on the front lines who are forced to pull the trigger (or hand out bans), but I assure you that there is always deliberation behind the scenes and I have rarely disagreed with the decisions of the FightForum staff. These guys do a hell of a job and deserve all the respect of this community.
If you disagree with a staff member's decision, rather than starting a rebellion, why not ask me to review the situation? Every complaint I have ever gotten about "staff abusing power" has always been a case where the so called "victim" was breaking the rules. If you don't like the rules, we could just get rid of them altogether and become Sherdog. Wouldn't that be great?
Getting back to my concerns with Team ****, everyone is aware that "I heart LNP" was recently promoted to moderator at FightForum. He always seemed like a cool guy and a good member to have on the staff, which is why we were all pretty shocked by the team **** deal.
It started when I heart LNP created an alternate account (tsgv456) on FightForum which used the email address
getridofaika@hotmail.com. We traced the IP address back to I Heart LNP and confronted him about the account. He denied any involvement on multiple occasions. Slightly concerned, we began digging a bit deeper. In the chat logs we uncovered I Heart LNP's admission to the alternate account. We also found a link to the team **** forum and discussion of **** members creating alternate accounts by using proxies to mask their IP.
Curious, I registered on the team **** forum and found some interesting stuff, which I have saved. One of which was a thread listing FightForum members that were "Enemies of Team ****", and talk of targetting atleast 1 of those members on FightForum.
Also on the **** forum, I heart LNP encouraged and offered to vote for any Team **** members that applied for Moderator at FightForum. He shared private information from the FightForum Staff area with **** members along with IP addresses of FightForum members. He forwarded private applications of members who previously voiced interest in being a FF Moderator to members of team **** to give them an advantage over others who were applying for moderator.
Members of **** were all on board with this and actually worked together to give each other "nominations" in the FightForum Moderator 2 thread. If this seems right to you guys, then I am wrong.
FightForum has always worked hard to bring in the most deserving moderators -- members that uphold our own standards. I think we have done a pretty good job with one exception. The fact that members of team **** couldn't send an application of their own explaining why they would make a good mod is reason enough for me to beleive that they would never make it on this staff, or in this community for that matter.
There was some other minor dirt uncovered, but by that point, I had seen enough. I'll let Aika and the others add to this, but I just ask that everyone show some respect for the job that these guys do, and understand that we all work hard to make decisions that are in the best interest of the community.
