That's the whole point of where Koscheck screwed himself up; he made an ignorant statement about Matt Hughes personally rather than talking about Hughes as an MMA fighter. Koscheck could have spoken without saying "white" and we would not even be talking about it.

It was true that slavery existed for all of the history of mankind going back to even before recorded history and the advent of the earliest civilizations. The Hebrews were slaves in Egypt for at least as long as the black Africans in the US, South America, and places in between.

Slavery in the US was not exclusive to the US. England engaged in slavery for a very long time even enslaving their own white population at times. King James enslaved rebels and sent them to Port Royal in Jamaica. That place was a center for the slave trade even after the British outlawed slavery.

If African Americans want equality and an end to racism, then they too MUST avoid racism and racist ways. Two wrongs will not make a right. Equality must be won by intellect and understanding, not by ignorance and stupidity.

The Civil War was more about economics than it was about freedom or an end to slavery. And, whomever said slavery was as prominent in the North as it was in the South has not studied history. The Civil War represented the end of the State governments as the true power in the United States and it was the assertion of the power of the Federal governement. Ecomomics and political power were the two strongest points that led to war. Slavery was just along for the ride.
Best post on here, I agree Sub.

Good. I sincerely hope you feel better about yourself in your life, that you did all you could.

I honestly do.

So you tell me what we, the white community, should do to make things right? Roll over when a black person makes a "cracker" joke? I feel organizations like NAACP are racist. You know that as soon as a white organization came together that supported the advancement of white people that someone would cry "RACIST". I don't support racism no matter if it's whites against blacks, blacks against whites, etc.

Organizations like the NAACP exist to help fight the racism and discrimination that black people face, and to fight for an equal place in society for them. If there wasn't any historic racism or discrimination, then these organizations wouldn't exist. I hardly see whites in America as a race that faces unequal opportunities so that they'd need an organization to fight for their rights, or to "advance"...

Does anyone remember, just a few short years ago, when Rush Limbaugh made a comment on Monday Night Football that "black quarterbacks weren't intelligent enough", or something along those lines?

And what was the fallout from that? He was fired!

Same meat, different gravy...

On a few levels, we could agree. But, Koscheck has postion in society where many people can see him fight and hear him say stuff like this comment. In many ways, he has a platform. What he says will get heard by a lot of people. And, as you can see, it did not make many of us laugh.

He should by now fully know and realize that nearly everything that he says in front of a microphone or camera will be heard and seen by a wide audience. He has a responsibility to try to say and do the right things. And, in my eyes, he failed at that responsibility.

Will he recover? Yeah, I think that he will. But, look at what happened to Isaiah Washington from Grey'S Anatomy. He lost a good job on a hit TV show just because he said "gay" a few times too many. It would not surprise me to see Koscheck booted out of the UFC, if he runs his mouth about racism some more without being intelligent about it.

White people are still the majority population. But, WTH, most of Black culture in America has been absorbed by the White culture. From music like Jazz, the Blues, and Rap all the way to various forms of modern dancing. Rap music makes it's money from young white kids, not black kids. There are simply more white kids buying Rap music.

The thing about rasism today is that a few racists can really stir up a big pot of trouble. They tend to be highly vocal (both among blacks and among whites). I honestly believe that, for the most part, racism has started to become meaningless in American culture. It still exists, but it has been slowly burning out towards a slow, meaningless death.

Anybody recall the recent Don Imus racist comments about a women's basketball team? He got suspended for two weeks off of his own show. He called them "nappy headed hoes"! That dude is a racist.

How long is this argument gonna last? I don't think any minds are gonna be changed because for

One: it means a lot of people are gonna have to look in the mirror and realize they need to make some changes in their life. I for one don't think we are ready for that.

Two: Americans are so spoiled that it really hard to understand what it means to be discriminated against. Most people aren't willing to admit that this country is still run by racists and probably always will be. People actually believe we all have the same oppourtunities in America. That's just laughable.

Three: lets just admit we have known for sometime now that Krav is just a little crazy!

Is it that we are not ready to make changes, or that we are afraid to look in a mirror? LOL

Americans are the hardest working people on this planet.

Blacks like to talk the talk but hate to walk the walk. They want to be seen as equals but don't like it when things don't go their way.

Blacks have just as many opportunity's as whites, it's their decision to do or not to do something with their life. Majority of whites don't do any thing with theirs to start with.

There is no conspiracy with white people to keep blacks where they are (what ever that means) it's just ignorance to think so.. a simple minded excuse that both blacks and whites use to justify society issues.

Fact is .. Kos was acted like a punk on TUF and he still acts like one. He didn't win any new fans with what he said. He is gonna get beat by GSP any way so he needs to get his time in the light now while he can. Next time maybe he will say something about the War In Iraq ..

What's with these generalizations? Now that's a bit racist, if you ask me....

Im going to close this thread in order to keep people from getting further infractions or bans.

If you guys, the forum members, wish to discuss race based issues and social issues, then do so in a thread in the "OFF TOPIC SECTION" specificly for that and keep the arguments civil and the statements non biased.

Racism is something that wont be tolerated on the forums so just be careful with the way some of you word your arguments and watch the generalizations and stereotypes.
