20 Best Comebacks in MMA
Quote:
If you’ve followed MMA since the 90’s like we have, you’ll probably enjoy this video montage of the sports 20 greatest combacks.
There is some great vintage footage from classic Pride and UFC battles that remind us how great the sport is. We may not neccessarily agree with the list of 20, but nonetheless it’s a good video piece (props to Wamrage). Is #1 Oritz vs. Frank Shamrock? Or maybe Nogueira vs. Cro Cop? Or even Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg? You can watch the video or click here to see the entire top 20 list.
#20 Phil Baroni vs. Evan Tanner (UFC 45)
#19 Heath Herring vs. Tom Erikson (Pride 11)
#18 Phil Baroni vs. Amar Suloev (UFC 37)
#17 Tank Abbott vs. Oleg Taktarov (UFC 6)
#16 Tito Ortiz vs. Guy Mezger (UFC 13)
#15 Chuck Liddell vs. Guy Mezger (Pride 14)
#14 Azeredo vs. Takanori Gomi (Pride Bushido 7)
#13 Fedor Emelianenoeko vs. Kevin Randleman (Pride Critical Countdown 2004)
#12 Fedor Emelianenoeko vs. Kazuyuki Fujita (Pride 26)
#11 Ricardo Arona vs. Quinton Rampage (Pride Critical Countdown 2004)
#10 Tito Ortiz vs. Frank Shamrock (UFC 22)
#9 Andre Roberts vs. Ron Waterman (UFC 21)
#8 Carlos Newton vs. Pele (Pride 19)
#7 Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Antonio Schembri (Pride 25)
#6 Pete Williams vs. Mark Coleman (UFC 17)
#5 Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg (UFC 53)
#4 Tank Abbott vs. Don Frye (UFC Ultimate Ultimate 96)
#3 Royce Gracie vs. Dan Severn (UFC 4)
#2 Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Mirko Cro Cop (Pride Final Conflict 2003)
#1 Bob Sapp vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Pride Shockwave 2002)

Cool video! But I don't know why the heck isn't Couture-Sylvia there?

When they say 'comebacks' I think they mean the fighter was losing the fight but then 'came back' to win, rather than a fighter who's making a career comeback.

Yea, I think so too.
Anyway, Hughes/Trigg II has always been my favorite.

I think.. Randy was really close to end it 1st round after the big punch and few big ones on the floor.. but Tim sylvia survived (although he didn't win, my bad!)
I'm not a big fan of Tim.. But he's a surviver.. He also was in the Alrovski fight!

Yep, for sure, that 2nd fight could have made it onto this compilation!
Another good one would be James Irvin v Terry Martin.

I agree that in #1, Bob Sapp almost literally KILLED Nog.. he really imposed lots of pain on him.. until the later submitted him..
But I always think that there's nothing can top #13 ever.. Randleman threw Fedor in the air and slammed him ON HIS NECK.. How he survived that is beyond me.. He ISN'T a human being for sure! INDESTRUCTIBLE!

Another good comeback was Eddie Sanchez last fight. I know hes not a big name, but he was nearly finished, came back later in the 2nd and won.
Good video, it shows true warriors spirit.
