Guida vs. Huerta in TUF 6 Finale
Quote:
Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale: Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta
September 29th, 2007

Clay Guida (22-8) will fight Roger Huerta (19-1) in a lightweight showdown at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale on December 8 at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guida confirmed the clash with Jesse Holland from UFCmania.com this afternoon, saying that the bout agreements for the main event were inked last night.
“I’m going to train for this fight like no other because I know a win over a competitor like Roger in front of a national audience puts me near the top of the division,” said Guida. “Roger is a friend, but when that bell rings it’s going to be all business.”
And even though Guida has had some recent trouble stopping opponents, “The Carpenter” says that trend will end against “El Matador.”
“I’m going to finish Roger,” said Guida. “It’s already in my mind that I’m going to make a statement with this fight.”
Guida — known for his seemingly endless amount of energy — has put on a show during each of his four fights inside the Octagon. And even though he has a deceptive record (2-2) in those contests, he’s proven that he is among the top 155 pound fighters.
In his most recent bout, Guida earned a split-decision win over Marcus Aurelio at UFC 74: “Respect” in August.
Huerta is undefeated (5-0) in the UFC since his arrival in 2006. He’s also been one of the busiest fighters in the organization — this will be his fifth fight in 2007.
With a win over Guida — his stiffest test to date inside the Octagon — Huerta will no doubt be knocking on the door of a title shot come early 2008.
Talk about a great match up.

Great match up indeed..
Guida would give anyone a fight anytime! He's very exciting to watch..
Also this is a chance for Huerta to prove that he belongs in the top LW division..
I'm really looking forward to this bout!
So who do you guys think can take it??

I'm not sold on Huerta as a top LW. He's never fought an established UFC fighter, and he's had a lot of trouble with the newbies he's been matched with. I think Guida's intensity and grappling strength will be too much for Roger right now.
I'm really looking forward to this match. It's about time they tested their Mexican poster boy.

Huerta is without a doubt a great talent but he makes a lot of mistakes. Not to mention he hasn't fought someone on Clay's level yet. I have to go with Guida.

I don't think so. He's a young guy that's extremely marketable and Guida is a proven force. Huerta has a long career ahead of him in the UFC win or lose.

Word.
I think Guida will be the bully in this fight, and it'll be interesting to see how Huerta reacts.

I think if Huerta loses it with deinatley shut down the hype and prove the theory that he only looks so good because he fights all cans.

If they make it an exciting close fight I think neither have anything to lose. I am excited to see this fight.

I stared at that picture forever.
I think Guida will keep the pressure on Huerta and pull out the victory. I think this will be a very good fight and probably go the distance. Ill take Guida by UD.

Huerta via controversial decision (that causes an uproar of threads.) lol
I will be rooting for Clay though.

Great fight. Im my opinion it's the most overrated (Huerta) vs the most underrated (Guida) in that division. I'm putting my money on Guida.

I'm hoping that Guida would win, since Huerta's gotten on my nerves with all the hype around him. But I somehow see Huerta managing to pull off the decision win, probably a split decision. I've started to like Huerta a bit now, since his last fight, I guess he's growing on me, but I think he needs a loss for his own good, so he realizes he's not the best out there. So far he hasn't fought anyone even close to the top of the division, that's why he's doing well on a winning streak.
Guida's very aggressive, but to me Huerta looks a lot more technical as a fighter. I see Huerta's better technique being enough to get the win. I do hope that Guida can beat him though. My heart will be on Guida, but my money will go on Huerta

Huerta finally put to the test, facing a real fighter. I think Clay Guida will take this one.

Huerta may not yet be a top LW, but I think he's progressing fast enough that he could take this fight. I like watching both fighters, but I think this fight will go to a decision and Huerta's conditioning will carry him to a unanimous victory. Although, I'd be happy for either fighter since they both deserve to move up the ranks.
