Sweet! I bet on 6 of the fights and got them all right. The Kharitonov/Werdum fight looked like it was closer than most people expected. Maybe Werdum is ready for the big time.

It also sounds like Shamrock was a bit dissapointing..

Thanks for posting the spoilers.

Edit: I take that back. I bet on Shamrock. So I went 5-1.

Thanks for posting the spoilers Seikan I won't get to see the event for a long time yet.

I'm glad my boy Thompson came through for me

Does anyone know when the PPV finishes airing? I'll be interested to see what the guys who watched it thought of the event overall, and if it was a convincing performance from Thompson.

I was also surprised to see the Sergei fight go to a split decision

Wow I thought someone was going to submit on the Ken Shamrock vs. Sakuraba.
I think Ken Shamrock should retire but that is just my opinion.

Rumor is...that the Shamrock KO was a very weak and questionable stoppage.
The pics that they have posted over at MMA Weekly seem to kinda back that up too....A couple of the pics show Ken down in a corner with the ref pushing Sakuraba back, immediately followed by pics of Ken with a "WTF look" on his face. Seemingly clear eyed and not the slightest bit dazed looking.

http://69.46.29.2:8080/absoluteig/ga...categoryid=338

Though....if his defensive posture was at all similar to the one he took with Franklin....I could see why the ref would stop it. In that Franklin fight, he took several shots straight to the face and didn't even react! LOL
His reaction timing may be slowing a bit as the years pile on.

BTW, Rampage looks like he destroyed his guy!!!!! Ouch!

Sakuraba did knock Ken out. I watched it. I think it sucks though because he did regain composure after the ref stopped the bout. Sak blasted Ken and rocked him hard, the reason the bout was stopped was Ken turned almost completely around therefore he seemed to be defenseless. Yes it sucks that the fight ended that way but I can't really argue the decision.

Now the Zulu vs. Miller match had me saying WTF?

I'll explain what happened with the Sakuraba vs. Shamrock knockout.

Sak knocks one of Ken's hands down in order to distract him and then comes in with an overhead left and just clocks Ken right in the chin. He then follows with another cross right to the chin, at this point Ken is falling, literally just falling. He's not off balance, he's just out on his feet. His back is too the ropes. Then, he regains composure and stands back up for like... a quarter of a second before he falls backwards towards the ropes (without getting hit) and his entire body spins and he falls face first into the ropes (this is after he goes out a second or two after being hit). At this point, his eyes are close and he's just laying on the ropes. Sak follows up and leans on his back, the ref at this point runs into stop Sak from attacking. Sak nails Ken in the side of the face (Ken's hands are down) and then Sakuraba hits Ken in the back of the head and ref pulls Sak off. The punch to the back of the head wakes Ken up, who then stands up and looks pissed like the fight shouldn't have been called.

At first glance I thought it was called prematurely, but Ken was out cold, and the only reason he wakes up is because he gets hit in the back of the head while laying face down on the ropes.

Edit: Hell, maybe I'll make it into an avatar if I can get the size down.

Yeah that's pretty much what happened mepersoner. At first I was upset with the call but after watching it again Ken was out cold. It all just happened so fast so your first reaction is to think premature stoppage but Sakuraba definitely rocked his world and of course Ken is going to be upset because he just got KO'd. There are still going to be the people who are going to be upset and complaining about the call. Ken needs to call it quits and focus on rebuilding the Lion's Den.

I don't know about that, yeah he looked bad against Franklin from what I hear (I haven't seen the match), but Chute Box was saying over and over and over again, Sakuraba is going to knock Ken Shamrock out. That was the game plan, Sakuraba trained very seriously over there, and just looking at his stance he had more of a striker's stance than a wrestlers stance. I bet he learned to get his hands down quicker when he needs to sprawl and has setup a more effective striking stance (just look at how much higher he holds his hands). I mean, Ken Shamrock has NEVER been KO'd in his entire career of fighting before this fight. Maybe that's because he's over the hill, but I think Sakuraba showed quite a bit of improvement there, and soon enough he'll be quite a force to be reckoned with, even for the Pride light-heavyweight strikers.

No doubt about Sakuraba's training. I was waiting to see if Chute delivered with the "new" Sakuraba and they did. I don't doubt Shamrock's skills but he has accomplished enough in his career. If he can get a new Lion's Den going and start training a new protege, I would much rather see that then him fighting some can so he can go out on a win. I love Shamrock and hate seeing him lose. Like you said he has never been KO'd before so that is one sign that he is not the Ken he used to be. But like I said it's not that I don't want to see him fight anymore I would just rather see him rebuild the Den and give us a new young buck to get excited about.

I think these stopages are getting pretty patty cake. Ken was not out. I am feeling ripped off - just let the finish be certain - same with Paul and AA, and lots more. It's a trend for sure..

Shamrock is now 4-6-0 in his last ten fights. That is not good. He has been TKO'ed three times with one KO in the last ten fights. Granted that he has been beaten by some of the best, like Franklin, Ortiz, Sakuraba, Frye, and Severn going back to 1996. Damn, Ken is 1-4-0 in the last five fights... I hate to say it, but maybe he ought to retire--which really sucks because I really like Shamrock.

Ah yeah....Very cool move with the Avatar there!
Cool to actually see it, rather than just reading about it.
Thanks!

LOL...You can see Ken doing a full on face-skid along that rope as he went down!

Sak def dropped him. he turned outside the ropes and quit trying to defend himself. he can say what he wants, it may have been slightly early but all it did was save him further brain damage.

Pride 30 was weak almost all the fights sucked expect Rampages. I don't think ken was out when you see the fight on the big screne it looked like he was readjusting his mouth when Sak hit him and when he went don't he was reaching for hi mouth not his chin. I've seen them let ppl get stomped and pounded for 5 extra seconds before they stop it and what they did to shamrock was bogus. Think of wand vs sak when sak went down he dropped shamrock ran away like when you get hit in the nuts or headbutted something was wrong with his mouth h may have bit his tongue or something. I don't know who would have won the fight but I think it was stopped way to early and I'm not for blood and gore or I don't wabt to see ppl get hurt but that fight was stopped tooo soon.

Zulu and Sentryu was crap too, I don't even know why it was stopped I think it was his pants. I mad Sentryu lost I really thought he was gonna win. Overall the whole night was a huge disappointment

I completely disagree, I'll upload the KO finish and the slow-mo reshots. Watch it a few times and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.
