Bas Rutten is a believer in the palm strike. He was forced to use it in Pancrase since they did'nt allow closed fists to the head during the time he competed. you can really do alot of damage. i've also read that you should used closed fists on soft targets and palm strike on hard targets like the head. it has its place but i don't see it ever becoming popular unless the rules require it.
