Kos vs Hazelett In The Works!
UFC 82: Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett fight in the works (Exclusive) at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com
Quote:
MMAmania.com (UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com) learned late last week that Dustin Hazelett (10-3) has been approached about taking a fight with Josh Koscheck (9-2) at UFC 82 at the Nationwide Arena on March 1 in Columbus, Ohio.
We didn’t pass along news of the welterweight match up because of “Kos” apparently being on the short list of competitors to face Matt Hughes at UFC 79: “Nemesis” on December 29. Now that Georges St. Pierre has filled that spot it is possible that Koscheck and Hazelett could agree to terms on a bout agreement.
Nothing is signed or official at this time, however, according to our source close to the Hazelett fight camp.
Koscheck dropped a unanimous decision his last time out at UFC 74: “Respect” against St. Pierre. The NCAA Division I wrestling champion and four-time All American at Edinboro University was on a five-fight winning streak inside the Octagon prior to running into “Rush.” It was a fight that cost him a shot at the 170-pound title … for now.
He’ll look to get back on track against the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist who fights out of the Jorge Gurgel Mixed Martial Arts Academy in the Buckeye State.
Hazelett is on a bit of a low-key run, winning his last three fights since dropping his UFC debut to crafty veteran Tony DeSouza via submission back in October 2006. The 21-year-old most recently tapped out Jonathan Goulet at UFC Fight Night 11 just this past September in less than 80 seconds.
This fight with Koscheck — if it happens — will be the biggest test to date without question for Hazelett thus far in his early professional fighting career. He’ll have the hometown crowd behind him and possibly an edge in grappling … but will it be enough?

I think that Kos is going to win, but Haz has some pretty slick subs up his sleeve. Should be a good fight.

Not a bad fight, but any fight where Kos is the clear favorite makes me sad. TICL said it well that Hazelett's subs are slick, but i just don't see it being enough. If Hazelett had a few more UFC fights against progressively tougher opponents i'd give him a better shot. But he is outclassed. If they're going to give Kos someone who is predominantly BJJ, they should give him someone even better than Hazelett, like Tony DeSouza....who submitted Hazelett.

I don't remember Hazelett. Which UFC did we see him on? I am going to have to do a search to see what he looks like.

I'm glad to see Kos back in the octagon again. I think he should be able to get the win. Hopefully a TKO.

I think Kos will have to work on his subs, but I think he will win by (T)KO depending on how he takes a loss.

Koscheck wins this easily.
Anyone that can hang with GSP for three rounds should be odds on favorite in pretty much all other fights.

I got Kos too, FJ.
Subgenius believes that Hazelett can beat Koscheck, so I'm giving him a chance to earn a whole bunch of points.
Still haven't heard back from Sub though...Weird.

I think Kos has the better takedowns, but thats it. Hazlett has decent striking and he's sick at submissions. Pit since I'm no millionaire I'll throw 20k on Hazlett.

So since I can't bet with you I've donated 20 G's to ya.
