Default Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva

This is a fight that a lot of people have been anticipating for so long, now that it's finally going to happen you start to wonder if it's going to live up to the hype. Taking a look at the past two years of each fighter:

Wanderlei Silva in the past two years is 4-3, having gone to the judges decision 3 times. He finished two opponents by TKO, but his last two fights saw him get viciously KO'd, going against someone with heavy hands like Chuck Liddell is going to be extrememly dangerous for Silva...

Chuck Liddell in the past two year's is 5-2, going to the judges decision only 1 time. Chuck's main problem is strikers, when he is put against a wrestler that doesn't have good punching ability he is easily able to pound on them, but when he is put against someone with heavy hands like Wanderlei Silva the results hasn't been good for him since UFC 37.5.

Both of these guys are going into this fight more motivated then ever, but in my opinion the fight is going to go to Wanderlei Silva via (T)KO in the first round. Chuck can't handle another striker, his chin isn't as "iron" as everyone thinks it is, so I'm going with Silva in this fight.

Im going to go with Wandy on this one , simply because i think Wandy has the better ground game, and probably has the same level of stricking as Liddell.
I think it will go to the ground.

If Wandy can get Liddell on the ground , it will be to wandy's advantage ,and in the stand up game, i think they both have the same stricking level , same styles , both looping wide strikes!!

but the thing about chuck is, while he depends on loopy strikes he has beautiful straights and uppercuts to counter Wandy's loopers

im thinkin chuck will win by TKO, i think chucks chin is still fine, he recovers extremely fast...who wouldnt get KO'd by that hook rampage threw?

only way this fight goes to the ground is if someone gets knocked down or...trips against the cage or slips on a banana peel or somethin

TBH I think Hightower and War machine would show both fighters what a good ground game is. I also confident that either one of them would with the standing battle against Liddle or Silva

did you know see them in the TUF, OMG they are sick. I think either of them could take on Fedor or even Aderson Silva

Yeah Anderson Silva isn't close to the same level as Richie "I Screw Girls, I SWEAR" Hightower.

I want Chuck to win, but I think Wandy's going to win. And, I say that because I feel Chuck's gotten too one dimensional recently. He seems to only want to throw his hands...he's practically all but abandoned his kicks/low kicking game.

Yeah I think the same thing. I don't think this will leave the first round. I think if Chuck stays on his bike long enough to catch Silva throwing wild punches then he can end it will a fatal blow. Pumped for this fight.

I want Wandy to win, but both have a puncher's chance.

Yeah, Chuck's chin is still damn good. That punch that Rampage caught him with would've KO'ed a horse! Despite catching that one straight on the jaw, it only flash KO'ed Chuck. Most guys would've been leaving on a stretcher after that one.

I love both fighters, but I just think Wandy is tailor made for Chuck. Chuck feeds off of grapplers, but he also feeds off of aggressive strikers. The strikers who can beat Chuck are the ones who can remain patient and make Chuck get anxious to push the action. He loves to bait guys into wild swinging matches and Wandy loves to swing away. However, both guys have instant KO power, so it really could go either way. A mistake by either guy could mean a short night.

Wow. Never seen that vid before. Ridiculous. I'm a huge Chuck fan and I think he takes this one, but Wanderlei is one helluva fighter.

It's just that I, like every other MMA fan, would've loved to have seen this fight 2-3 years ago. We all knew that Chuck would start slowing down soon due to age, but Wanderlei's rapid decline is a bit surprising since he's a good 6-7 years younger than Chuck. When Chuck was Wanderlei's age, he was just starting to really hit his stride. But, Wanderlei's been in a lot of tough fights and I think they've taken their toll. His style of fighting leads to him taking a lot of punishment.

I have an immense amount of respect for both of these fighters and I think that this fight is big enough and has been anticipated for long enough that both of these guys will come into the fight in the best shape they can possibly be in and be ready to absolutely go to war! Let's hope!

I think Wanderlei will take this fight. He sounds and looks very well prepared and confident, while Chuck seems to be a little doubtful. I am sure he is well prepared physically, I just think mentally he is beat before he gets in the ring.
