Default Which gloves?

so i've decided to start training again and getting back into shape.
i got a bag for xmas and i'm looking for a mma gym to join in the next couple months.
i am looking for a set of gloves for the bag, but i want to be able to use them while grappling also. i have no idea of what kind of gloves to get. could i get some real mma gloves and hit the bag with them or do i need a different kind for the bag?
i was looking online and saw quite a few different kinds of gloves. some have a one piece padding on the top of the hand and knuckles, some are 2 piece padding. some have a thumb loop and some don't.
there are a couple places to buy mma gear in san diego so i'm gonna go look there, but don't really know what to look for.
any help would be great, TIA
i haven't hit a punching bag in over 15 years. it feels great, but i need gloves.
