First off, at 5'8 155 pounds is about as light as you want to be
Second, This is the general advice I give to a lot of people training. Be honest about it. Telling some guy you just met that you bench 300lbs is fine as long as you and the people you are training with don't think it to be true. If you are doing an excercise and see that no one is looking and you can get away with only doing 8 instead of the 10 you were supposted to, don't do it. The only way you can get the best results out of training is being honest about it. You have to see what you have to work on and really work on it.
Third, Look for some posts by rugger. He has alot of advice to give and knows his stuff.
