That's a tough one. I like both of them a lot. They can both hold their own very easily. I think Ali has the footwork on Tyson and Tyson has the power on Ali. I am going to have to go with Ali. I don't think he would have been intimidated by Mike no matter what he did. He knew he was the greatest and no one was going to tell him anything different even if he wasn't. He could take whatever was thrown at him and dish it out too. It's always going to be hard to try and figure this kind of thing out just because of the time difference and the technique each boxer used. I'm going with Ali decision.

I had a difficult time picking...Ali was big like McBride, but a 100 times better...I'd like to think that Tyson was also that much better in his prime. I gave Mike the benefit of the doubt, thinking he would land one of those devastating right hooks.
Ali was definitely the type of fighter that could frustrate Tyson with the jab, and wear him down in close.

tyson at his peak versus ali at his peak ?
tyson would knock ali out, i know ali faced big big hitters but tysons early style (cus da'mato /teddy atlas stylee) was like nothing ali could have faced and he wasnt as big .... POW !!!

I was going along the lines of Spartan but then I figured Ali would wear him down so much that he'd be able to just go off on him later. That's why I went stoppage instead of decision.
Tyson may have had a style unfamiliar to Ali but Ali was smart too, he'd easily catch on and compensate.

M.I.T. (Mass. Institute of Technology) actually once created a simulation of Ali vs. Rocky Marciano. Marciano won due to punching power and STAMINA. Marciano doesn't get much credit for it as most see him as slow, clumsy yet powerful but the reality is that he trained harder and more consistantly than any modern fighter. While the average heavyweight throws 40-45 punches in a given round if they are fresh, Marciano averaged 85 punches per round and we are talking quality power punches and it was not uncommon for him to throw 100 or more punches in a round. Both Ali and Rocky trained for 15 round contests where as Tyson has fought in 12 rounders. My point being that Ali would take Tyson deep, stay away from his power long enough to tire him out and clock him in the 10th or later for a KO. While Ali ended up wilting under the withering constant pressure from Marciano, Tyson would not be able to maintain the pace that Marciano could and hence would lose. Vince Lombardi once said," Fatigue makes cowards of us all." It is as true today as it was back in the 1960's. BOTTOM LINE TYSON WOULD LOSE.

I can't believe some of you guys even think Tyson would have had a chance against Ali. I think Foreman, Frazier and Norton would have ALL had Mike for breakfast - never mind Ali. I really don't understand people's obsession with Tyson. Who has he beaten? Anyone from the top 20 all time greats? No. Ali would have danced around Tyson, picking him off, wearing him down. Tyson wouldn't have stood a chance. If Ali could take the power of Foreman, et al, how on earth would Tyson stand a chance?

I kind of agree with appro
Ali would slaughter Tyson. Four words (Rumble in the Jungle). He would do the same thing to Tyson. Tyson would wear his self out and Ali would frustrate him. Then before you know it Tyson is kissing the canvas.
As for the computer thing with Ali/Marcianno, How did the computer know what kind of fight Ali would fight? That is what made him great. He rolled with the punches. He studied his fighter and adapted his game plan according. If a computer could do that we would already have Artificial Intelligence...

razor ruddock was no bum !!! tony tucker was a very good boxer, larry holmes was still pretty good .....pinklon thomas was considered to wiley for tyson -and was heavily pummeled, same goes for tony tubbs ....i tell ya hose ribalta was a very tough cookie when hi fought tyson and remember every one saying trevor berbeck would kick his ass (and he beat ali !!!! (yea, yea, i know,i know)
I feel tyson was young and got bored/sloppy and paid the ultimate price - he lost his place as the best heavyweight boxer in history...

Statistics and probabilites are wonderful things, but since Marcianno would hit him with an average of 85 punches, 85 quality punches per round, wouldn't tire out and no pun intended had a rock of a chin it makes Ali's strategy a moot point. Even if Ali fired back he was a light hitter and really wouldn't do anything to faze Marcianno. Marcianno would walk through Ali's punches and just keep hitting him until he went down. As for how the whole simulation went you'd have to ask the geeks at MIT.....

Are you kidding me?!!! Tyson would've had his ass handed to him on a silver platter by Ali! Ali would've have had him completely out of his game. Tyson got his ass handed to him by Buster Douglas in his early years. Douglas controlled that whole fight. Now if Ali, can get pounded on by the much bigger and stronger George Foreman for 7-8 rounds and KO him...Tyson would be nothing for him. When you disrupt his fight style or plan he cannot adjust or figure out an alternate attack plan. All he was was a guy who threw fast and hard...but in addition to those skills, all the greats know how to box and adjust too. The real question should be who would win Ali or Lennox Lewis? Not Tyson. And yes Lewis would've kicked the crap out of Tyson in the early years too. They fought/sparred against each other right before their pro debuts and Lewis dominated him...that's why we never saw Lewis vs. Tyson in the earlier years. Tyson Sucks and shouldn't even be a topic of conversation in these forums. Talk about the real greats...not some bum who only beat up other bums or guys over the hill.

I see Ali beating Tyson in a similar fashion to Big Goerge.

The way Ali fought that fight in Zaire was spectacular.. he let George hit him like a Sandbag for 8 rounds.. and then like Lightning he used his chance.. he was waiting for it the whole time. Thinking about how Foreman put dents in the Sandbags.. man.

Ok It depends. Mike Tyson before all the Stuff he went through, or after. Because Mike was an Animal before he got mentaly destroyed by King. Think about it. Ali had the Rope'aDope. No dought Ali could take a beating to wear his apponent down. But, If Ali in his prime, got to Fight Mike in his prime, Ali would go down in 2. Thats just my opinon. But, I think i can beat Mike Tyson...lol

George Foreman was the Mike Tyson of his era too. Foreman was bigger and stronger than Mike. Plus, he beat the crap out of real opponents (i.e. Joe Frazier). Tyson was never tested before Buster Douglas. Douglas took him out of his game. So, no doubt Ali would too.

Conan, you stated earlier that rocky threw an average of eighty five punches per round. now your trying to say that he wuld land eighty five punches against the most elusive heavy weight of all time. give me a break. you should read your own posts. as for the ali tyson thing, not even worth discussing.
