Silva saw that and patiently kept punishing Hendo to finally take his back and submit him.
Despite general consensus of Hendo being a bad match-up for Silva, this was the logical way for the fight to develop considering these two fighters' styles. It was clear to me that Hendo's pride would make him trade with Silva sooner or later. In the first round he followed his game plan and immediately clinched. But in the second he tested his stand-up, and it was lights out for him very, very fast. Even Leben took more punches before he went down.

In the post-fight interview I don't think Dan gives Silva the recognition he deserves. He says that he made mistakes, which he did. But Silva took advantage of the tiny window of opportunity he had in the second round, and finished the fight.

Silva epitomizes mma fighting. The UFC and the fans should enjoy him right now, as others as good as him are impossible to come across right now.
Good post earvinarp, I agree w/ you 100% about Dan being hurt standing b/4 getting submitted. Having said that I dont want to take anything away from Silva's ground game. He was excellent while on the top and bottom (limiting damage done) which really makes him look unbeatable atm.....

I believe based on the 1st round these 2 need to have a rematch. I am not saying Silva would not win again but if Dan could do what he did the 1st and avoid getting KO'ed he would have a great chance to win. I dont see anyone else atm who would really challenge Silva.....
