I saw the interview as well. Lappen simply said that lay and pray fighters were not what EliteXC is looking for. He specifically made it a point to say that wrestlers and BJJ'ers are more than welcome, as long as they stay active when they take it to the ground.
This is nothing new. Ever heard of a yellow card in PRIDE? He was making the point that EliteXC is looking for
exciting up and coming fighters, and not necessarily guys on big win streaks that grind guys out on the ground with little to no action.
He never said grapplers aren't fighters, never even hinted at it. I don't know where you got that from but it's way off.
You quoted him properly yet you somehow misinterpreted what "We like Jiu-jitsu guys and wrestlers." meant.
