On Inside the MMA, they had the matchmaker for Mark Cuban's HDNETFIGHTS MMA organization. He admitted to Bas Rutten in the show yesterday that they have penalties in their rules meetings for fighters who are not constantly striking and making the fight exciting. He also said thre are penalties for fighters who constantly try to take it to the ground. He said
"We like Jiu Jitsu guys and wrestlers. But if you're going to take the fight to the ground we frown on that. HDNETFIGHTS is about exciting fights, and going to the ground isnt exciting in most instances. Those are just not fighters in our opinion at HDNETFIGHTS."
The way he said it was logical, but the arugment that grapplers weren't fighters basically pissed me off. This to me shows that Cuban and Company have no clue about what MMA is, and are just doing all of this to get some attention.

FatCatMC - I saw the interview as well. Lappen simply said that lay and pray fighters were not what EliteXC is looking for. He specifically made it a point to say that wrestlers and BJJ'ers are more than welcome, as long as they stay active when they take it to the ground.
This is nothing new. Ever heard of a yellow card in PRIDE? He was making the point that EliteXC is looking for exciting up and coming fighters, and not necessarily guys on big win streaks that grind guys out on the ground with little to no action.
He never said grapplers aren't fighters, never even hinted at it. I don't know where you got that from but it's way off.
You quoted him properly yet you somehow misinterpreted what "We like Jiu-jitsu guys and wrestlers." meant.

Sorry I had gotten confused, with Krav saying HD net and Cuban's guy and FatCat MC saying the interview talked about Elite XC. I did not think he owned Elite XC, but hell he is rich and probably could buy it.
