Default GSP, twice as strong!!

According to an interview GSP did with FIGHT! magazine, GSP is twice as strong as he was when he lost to Serra. In training he has gone from struggling to bench a pair of 55lb. dumbells to hoisting a pair of 120's for reps at the end of his "light" workout. According to his strength and conditioning coach. "GSP was'nt training properly, even though he was training hard.".

If the rematch with Serra goes to the ground i beleive its possible we may see another submission victory by GSP.

thats nice, but his strength isnt the reason those punches snuck through and he got pounded out or that serra just jumped out of the way of his kicks and GSP landed next to nothing, there was little clenching and grappling in that fight

so i dont see why that is relevant

Its not relevant to his loss. It is relevant to the rest of his career and his overall game and confidence. GSP seems to be speaking the truth when he says that his loss to Serra is the best thing to even happen to him. It gave him reason to seek to improve himself, physically and mentally. Which he apparently has.

This has publicist written all over it. Do you really think that GSP use to struggle with 55lb dumbells on bench. I'm calling complete BS. This is just more of GSP explaining why didn't win the fight. I was over training. I wasn't in the right frame of mind. Blah, blah, blah. The only reason GSP beat Hughes is because Hughes was over training at the time. Hughes was so weak he could only eat a city breakfast. Ridiculous.

I'm saying it now for some reason I believe that Serra vs. GSP is like Rampage vs. Chuck. It's just a bad match up for GSP. I think Serra can beat him on his feet and I think he'll submit him on the ground.

You really think Serra will submit GSP?? Serra has'nt submitted anyone since 2002. I doubt he'll get one against GSP. I agree Serra has heavy hands but if GSP takes the fight to the mat or stays out of Serra's range Serra has no chance. No way Serra has St. Pierre's number.

You probably don't care but I'll give you 100 to 1 odds on 1000 points on that prediction. So I'll give you 100,000 if you predict correctly. Of course I'll want my 1000 from you if GSP wins.

According to the GSP vs. Serra poll, nearly 80% of 99 voters believe that GSP will beat Serra in thier rematch.

Serra V GSP. Who wins?

You're on. However you'll have to show how to give you a 1000 points if I lose.

I understand that everyone thinks GSP will win. I think Serra is one of those guys who really gelled late in his career. There's someone else like that, oh yeah his name is Randy Couture. But, I could be completely wrong at which time I will admit it. I think Serra got hands late in his career, his size could pose a problem against GSP, and yes even though he hasn't submitted anyone in a while he is still very dangerous on the ground. He's also cocky enough to believe that he can win.

Your last line sums up Serra, his cockiness gives him ultimate confidence. In his win over GSP he really believed in his striking and sure enough went out, brought it straight to GSP and knocked him stupid. I just don't believe he's going to be able to do it again. As for the Randy comparison? i see him more like a Gabriel Gonzaga, his career will be defined by one soaring high point. For Gonzaga its a KO headkick on CroCop. For Serra its beating GSP.

I'm about to make a bold prediction......

GSP will lose. I think Serra will do something bold and fairly quick, and pull another one out. A submission seems like a very nice candidate because Serra hasn't got a submission victory since 2002. Mark it. Serra to WIN.

GSP will bench-press Matt Serra in the middle of the fight. That would be entertainment.

Yeah, this is just not true.
Struggling with 55 pound dumbells, LOL.

Anyway, GSP is not gonna submit Serra.
Unless he manages to rock him real bad before that. He's not just gonna outwork him on the ground like he did with Hughes. Nope.

Serra won't get lucky this time. GSP will win by TKO (GnP) in the first or second round. Then we can all look forward to seeing GSP defend the title against Fitch. That will be a great fight.

It's very possible he had problems pressing 55lbs dumbells at first, especially if he had never really used DB's before. I was bb benching over 300lbs the first time I used db's and I struggled with the same weight at first. Once you become neurologically efficent, the weight jumps fast.

I like how they say he is repping 120's at the end of his LIGHT workout..what exactly does he do at the beginning of his heavy workout??

Madness. GSP is superior at both stand up and on the ground and i believe he was when they first fought, too. Doesn't mean it was impossible for him to lose the fight though, and obviously that's what happened on that occasion.

People have made far too much of a big deal out of that first fight imho.

I remember in their first fight GSP's Muay Thai Coach was talking about far superior his Muay Thai was to anything Serra had to offer. He went on and on and practically guaranteed a victory.

I'm not saying GSP isnt stronger, he obviously was in the fight with Matt Hughes.

I just think that Serra is crazy and doesent care. He'll go in there and put the pressure on GSP again, and I'll still take Serra's sub game over GSP's in a heartbeat, regardless of GSP's strength.
