I think Serra got hands late in his career, his size could pose a problem against GSP, and yes even though he hasn't submitted anyone in a while he is still very dangerous on the ground. He's also cocky enough to believe that he can win.
Your last line sums up Serra, his cockiness gives him ultimate confidence. In his win over GSP he really believed in his striking and sure enough went out, brought it straight to GSP and knocked him stupid. I just don't believe he's going to be able to do it again. As for the Randy comparison? i see him more like a Gabriel Gonzaga, his career will be defined by one soaring high point. For Gonzaga its a KO headkick on CroCop. For Serra its beating GSP.
