Nate Diaz Ready For Another Shot At Manny Gamburyan
Quote:
Nate Diaz appears to be just as eager to fight Manny Gamburyan as Gamburyan is to fight him. Last week, in an interview with Fightline.com, Gamburyan expressed his strong desire to face Diaz again, in what would be a rematch of their TUF 5 finale showdown. Gamburyan suffered a severe shoulder separation in that match up which forced him to tap early. Below are some of Diaz's comments regarding a future fight with Gamburyan courtesy of Tagg Radio.
Diaz On Fighting Gamburyan:
Manny wants to fight me. But you know what? I want to fight him too just as much... I don't give a ****. If they want to do it, I'm ready for that."
Diaz On Gambuyan And His Cousin Karo Parysian:
I don't like them. I don't mean nothing bad to anyone else in the sport. Everybody's just trying to make their money and fight their fights and do their thing, just like I am. But those guys? **** them. They're cocky, they talk ****, and they want to act tough. But when they're by themselves, they try to say 'What's up,' you know. I'm like, 'We're not friends, dude.'
Diaz On The First Fight Between He And Gamburyan:
[Gamburyan] already did everything he was going to do in that first round. I felt better in the second round. I didn't feel like he was doing anything from the top anyway. Pellegrino was doing good from the top. He was trying to pass the guard do his thing. Manny was just trying to sit in the guard the whole time. The thing is with a lot of guys is they can go hard from go, you know, from the start, and they slow down as time goes by. I feel like I go hard from start, too, but I feel like I get better as time goes by. Some people slow down. They give everything at the beginning. So I feel like sometimes, not with all people, but with some people, that it's going to get better for me in the later rounds… I was just 'If he did anything good, the best thing he was going to do, he already did.'

Good interview. I think he would win again. Everyone thinks he only won because of the injury but I think he was going to win anyway. Just because Manny won the first round and was in control the entire time, doesnt mean the whole fight was going to go like that. Nate took a pounding Maynard and caught him then he took a brutal pounding from Pelligrino and caught him as well. War Diaz.

Manny should be fighting at featherweight, he should fight Diaz and if he loses drop to the WEC. That dude is small!

At this point, Nate shouldn't go backwards.

I think that Nate will get to fight Manny when he gets his first loss, not before. A fight against Manny would seem to be a step down for him at the moment but still it would be a big risk for Diaz. If Diaz is gonna lose, they want it to be against a bigger name fighter.
If Diaz were to lose, lets say his next fight then a rematch with Manny is very possible.

I agree, he has done gotten too deep into the division to face Manny atm. Like Jasp said, he is gonna have to lose to a bigger name opponent b/4 they put him in against Manny.....

I agree with Nate completely.
Manny comes on very strong in his matches, however he will tire and get subbed end of rd 2 or early rd 3.
I think Nate can hang with most fighters in the division. He has looked very good in his past few fights.

It is typical behavior of somebody like Manny to immediately want a rematch with somebody that beat them. Tough luck Manny, you lost fair and square. You have to earn your shot at Nate now.

This is kinda how I feel on the situation. Jasp sum it up best, that Manny will get his rematch after a Diaz loss. I thought Manny was winning the fight against Diaz before the shoulder injury. Those are the breaks in mma. Can't wait for the rematch, both young and hungry.

Nate was "losing" to Gray Maynard, Alvin Robinson, and Kurt Pellegrino too, before lulling them into a sweet submission........
The only advantage Manny has that I can see is he doesn't really have a neck. That will make the triangle and the guillotine much harder to apply.

Or the odd chance that he overwhelms Nate for an early (and controversial) TKO. Outside of a puncher's chance, I see Nate beating Manny more times than not. He's just too resilient.

Why is Diaz taking a step back? Give him a better LW than Manny.

Yeah it was fair but w/ the curcumstances surrounding the 1st fight I dont blame him for wanting a rematch; having said that I believe Nate would win again.....
