Try counting your calories. If you multiply your body weight by 15 it will give you your approximate daily calorie intake. Work out how many calories you are currently consuming and go from there. Start with taking off about 200 calories at a time.
I found that if I didn't eat anything bar 10 almonds after 6pm my body responded very well. This worked for me but may not work for you.
