honestly, I agree, I like to see how smaller fighters deal with big big guys like him , and honestly I think he'll be the HW champion in about 2years time.
Im not really a fan of his or anything , but Its interesting to see him fight, hes a beast.

I can't wait to see him fight again as well. In fact, I was pretty shocked to see people rank 2-0 Cain Velazquez over him in the FF rankings. Dude is a serious specimen. Unless your BJJ is as slick as Nog's or Mir's, you have no chance. And with a little experience, they won't have much of a chance either.

I wish the guy had taken more time building his career in smaller shows before coming to the UFC. I think he has a lot of potential and honestly he did have some moments in his first fight.

The problem with Lesnar using smaller shows to get into the business comes with his age. He is 31. He did the smart thing by getting signed to the UFC now. He may only have five or ten years left in the sports world. Now, at the least, he gets to compete at the big show in front of the big audience. He has been a fast learner as well. I think that he will be a force at HW.

Good luck to him... he is developing and learning fast and well. Im definately looking forward to the fight and the turnout could be very much different to his last fight.

I hope Brock fight more than twice a year. He fought in Feb and won't fight till August. When will he fight after that? I think the UFC knows Lesnars worth something marketing wise and will milk his contract accordingly.
I mean, I just want to see him improve as a fighter while he's still young.

Well he did get injured, which was why they postponed that fight, wasn't it?

I really want to see him fight someone without a ground game like Kongo.

That might have something to do with it . I didn't think he was injured that bad against Mir, but I could be wrong. They also might be giving him more time to train so he will be a force and not a waste of money.

I'm too lazy to find the article, but I'm pretty sure he was injured in training after the Mir fight, and not as a result of it.

Not to be a hater, but this guy Lesnar (mark my words) won't amount to anything except hype. Yes, he had some moments but it's been my experience that "big" guys have always been "big" guys, learned to fight like a "big" guy and will lose like all the typical musclemen since the inception of the UFC. A bear doesn't learn to fight like a panther later in life. And you need to fight with speed, flexibility AND strength to be competitive in MMA.
He'll probably ko a couple of cans that the UFC puts in front of him, right before they set up some over-hyped ppv against a good fighter (who will dominate him).
Call it nay-saying, but I don't see him learning and applying the jujitsu defense that he'll need. His physique will doom him to slowness. His lack of flexibility (did you SEE his musculature???) dooms him to injury.

You do know that Brock Lesnar was an NCAA wrestling National Champion, right?

The Lesnar of those days is probably more suited to the octagon than the Lesnar now. I'm not an expert in terms of the world of bodybuilding for professional wrestling, but I'm thinking a lot of it has more to do with LOOKING impressive/imposing vice developing and improving existing skills. All I'm saying is that the time in professional wrestling, the "cons" of his current physique, age, and his relatively recent entry into the mma game are factors against him. The NCAA National Champion fresh out of college transitioning RIGHT INTO mma is one thing, the post pro-wrestling specimen is another.

I don't agree. In pro-wrestling they do not teach any real life fighting skills. But, what they teach is how to move your body, which could be described as gymnastic or acrobatic in nature. MMA fighters, rarely, if ever, can do what a pro-wrestler does in that pseudo-sport. Also, Lesnar is a highly agile and acrobatic person. It showed in his match against Frank Mir.Lesnar wrestled at Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where he managed to have a 33-0 record in his senior year. Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship for his junior and senior years of college; his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach. Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota. Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college. All of that does not promise that he will be a success at MMA. But, I don't buy into the ideology that Lesnar would simply forget his skills.

I buy that he may not forget all his skills... but I just can't get on the bandwagon that this mountain of muscle won't (in the end) rely on sheer brute force like the countless other brute-force fighters like him IN THE OCTAGON. Yes, he has an amazing pedigree of training... but I can't believe (unless I see it with my own eyes) that he can be a technical force in mma.
I don't know. Just such a strong gut feeling. You're right though... there's a lot to the man in terms of where he's been, that his entire professional career has been about honing his body to outperform his competition (be it in a pseudo sport or a legitimate sport), and that he can certainly bring a beatdown. Don't take this the wrong way, I hear what you're saying, it's just I don't think he'll measure up to the hype.
Lol. Maybe I've just got too much bias against ex-pro wrestlers! (Hell, after all, I grew up thinking Bob Backlund and the Iron Sheik were real!).

I'm going to have to agree with Sub on this one.
Brock has an incredible resume and is arguably at his physical prime.
He has been spoken very highly of by his trainers and seems to pick up the sport "very" fast.
I don't see Brock winning the title any time soon, but I really think he has a bright future ahead of him.
I'm not fond of this idea, but UFC needs to be careful and hand feed Lesnar some opponents. Preferably a few fighters with little to no bjj.
The last thing UFC/Lesnar needs is to lose another quick match.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. So what if he fought in the WWE for a few years.
