Obviously prison is'nt a good place to be. But is'nt it amazing that people who go into prison out of shape often leave prison physically better off? I've heard several explanations for this. One being the restricted diet, you either eat what you're given or not at all. Excessive free time leads to boredom and lots of pushups, squats and crunches. Most prisons have well equiped gyms. Then there is the fear element. In prison the strong have the best chance of survival. Get beat up and raped for the duration of your sentance or lift weights like a madman. Lifting weights seems like a better option and what better motivation than to avoid being sexually assualted? In all seriousness, prison forces you into a lifestyle of discipline whether you wanted it or not. Its not like Fat Camps for rich people, where they paid to attend and even after spending thousands of dollars still don't feel like they have to eat less or exercise.
