Hey guys, For me the key to maintaining a lean build has always been consistency. I don't agree with the idea of bulking up over the winter and then looking to diet down for summer. For bodybuilding its always been a common practice to pack on as much mass in the offseason without concern for added fat. Then cut back calories and drop the pounds for contests. I suppose when your goal is gaining mass for bodybuilding this is a realistic strategy but for health and athletic performance this is a recipe for failure. Fighters, who can easily be considered the fittest of athletes train hard year round, keeping bodyfat percentage low and only cutting weight as part of the weight class game. If you train hard year round and avoid yo-yo weight gain and loss you will never have to worry about dropping 10 or 20 pounds to look good.
