I am going to post some advice here for everyone's benefit. You can get started on your own, even if you're alone. It is not the best route to go since you will learn alot faster under the intruction of qualified and experienced trainers. However if you don't have a gym nearby and moving close to one is not an option you may have no choice but to go it alone. First off, get yourself a copy of "Training for Warriors" by Martin Rooney. Its a step by step manual to get you in shape, follow the strength and cardio programs as best you can with available equipment. As for boxing and stand up there are many good instruction DVD's on the market, same for the ground game. I recommend Matt Furey's book "Combat Conditioning" as well. It will get your body ready for the uncomfortable positions common in grappling. You will need to train this area hard if you don't have the option of actually rolling with training partners. This is not the best way but sometimes its the only way.
