Default Lesnar vs Herring Official

Personally, I think Herring will get taken down and pounded out. As, he does not possess the ground defense that Frank Mir does. His only hope is to stuff the takedown; which he may be able to do. Herring did TKO a prime Mark Kerr...so who knows. What's everyone's thoughts?

I think Herring is in trouble since no knees to the head of a downed opponent are allowed. He is a huge guy but I don't see him stuffing Brock's takedowns all night.

I guess he could test Brock's chin more than anyone has but I think it will be a long night for Heath.

I believe this will be a much better fight than Colemnan/Lesnar and also Herring has improved alot; he has a good chance of catching Lsenar w/ a good shot and hurting him. I want to see Lesnar take a good solid shot just to see how he responds to it.....

That's a very good point about the knees. Without that He will be in trouble.

If Herring can manage to keep it standing it might be a good fight, but personally I think Coleman's wrestling would neutralize a lot of Lesnar's; which could've made for a really dull fight. At least until one of them gassed out.

I think Herring is going to catch Lesnar with something. I don't know why but I just don't see Lesnar taking this one.
Heath has a ton of experience and i'm sure somehow some way that is going to play a big role in this fight. Thanks for the info smashy.

I like this fight a lot more than the Coleman fight. It will be interesting to see if herring can keep it standing. He will be in trouble if he fights like he did against Jake O'brien, but he defiantly has a lot more to offer on the feet than Coleman. I would probably still have Lesnar be the favorite in this fight as he has shown he possesses some brutal ground n pound and herring does not have good take down defense.

I am a fan of a new fighter named "Anyone fighting Brock Lesnar". I love how Dana criticizes Kimbo left and right, but embraces a former WWE actor and heavy steroid user, who happens to be a bigot. I know how accomplished of an amateur wrestler he was, but to me, that is far in the past. I will be rooting for him to fall on his face, showing himself to be a sideshow who can't stop a submission. Let's go Herring!

I think Herring has the experience to pull something off, but how about this for a fight: Kimbo Slice vs. Brock Lesnar? I know that won't happen until one or the other jumps ship, but I think that would be a great slugfest!

Like some others above have said, this is a much better fight than Coleman/Lesnar. And like Smashing said, I think Lesnar will end up pounding out a TKO in the end. Let's not forget the Lesnar/Mir fight could have easily been stopped, and there wouldn't have been many gripes. He completely dominated a former champion for the first few minutes. Sure, he was caught in a submission later in the round, but Herring doesn't have the submission skill Mir has.

That being said, this definitely won't be a pushover. Herring is a damn good fighter and seems to be improving even more as of late. If he trains submissions, he could keep Lesnar off balance a little. But in the end, it won't matter. Lesnar will overpower him and get the stoppage. It will be his best MMA win to date as well and will slowly move him up the ladder.

As for comparing Lesnar and Kimbo, that's ridiculous. Lesnar has a much more decorate athletic past than Kimbo. A four-time All-American wrestler and a street fighter are far from the same credentials. Sure, he was in the WWE, but he was still a phenomenal athlete.

I am not comparing them as athletes, but as untested MMA fighters. One of them gets a bad rap because he looks like a "thug" and was a street fighter and the other has nuthuggers even though he was an acknowledged, heavy steroid user. Lesnar's comparison to Kimbo is that neither of them deserves to be a headliner on a legitimate MMA card.

Should be interesting. Herring beat Tom Erickson back in the day by surviving on the bottom and then eventually catching him with a submission. I could see that happening again if he can weather the initial onslaught. Herring doesn't have good BJJ, but he scrambles on the bottom like nobody else does really. It's not necessarily the best strategy, but it's really not a bad one against a wrestler.

Herring is going to be a real test for Brock. I think if Brock can get the take down and control Heath it'll be a quick fight, but if Herring is able to either stuff the take down or create a scramble every time it goes to the ground he could win the fight. Definitely a much more exciting fight than the Coleman v. Lesnar fight that they originally booked.

Herring has submitted people from the bottom and he has submitted people from the top. Lesnar will take the fight to the ground, well he has to take the fight to the ground and during the transition Herring will work the lock.

The question is, what happens to Lesnar if he does end up on the tapping side of this fight. I guess he could fight Kongo.

You seem to be quick to jump on Lesnar for roids. Do you have a source for that ? Like a failed test ? Or an admission on his part ? I know he was in the WWE so chances are ... he most likely did .... but still. Until it's proven , its all speculation. I do however agree with you that he should not be headlining an event. But neither should Herring. Neither of which is their fault. Blame the UFC for that one.

I believe he was arrested a few years ago with a "large amount" or anabolic steroids (someone help me with the sourcing). I doubt he was holding them for a friend. And I agree that it's the "UFC's fault" that he's headlining, but should he not be held to the same standard (that of vicious criticism) that Kimbo is?

BTW- great sig. How could anyone rank Gomi over BJ after seeing that fight?

Tough match to call. I wouldn't have given Herring much of a chance until he dominated Kongo on the ground.

I understand that Kongo is light years behind Lesnar in wrestling, but still.....

I'll probably take the odds.

thats why im such a hug herring fan, my style of grappling is based on how he scrambles

no oen ever seems to bring it up though, how many bad positions does heath escape throughout his career (jake o'brien fight was just garbage heath)

i think hell be aiight, and ask kongos ribs how much no knees to the head throws his top game off
