Default Russian systema and other less popular martial arts.

I had the honor of training with a Russian friend who lives in the same town as my cousin, where I often visit. Since takedowns are my weakest area, we worked takedowns, standing takedowns and some throws.

I was very impressed with the uniqueness and effectiveness of what he showed me. I believe the throw was some form of Aikido though.

He also brought a friend with him who was trained mostly in Chinese Stand up. He had some sick pressure points that messed up my clinchwork in a heartbeat.

I'm not some great fighter or anything, but I would suggest to everyone to study all types of martial arts as there seems to some effective technique and principals in all of them.

Just a thought. Any input would be welcome.

Preasure point aren't alowd in MMA. I believe that would be considered fish hooking. Sounds cool though, I like learning not so popular martial arts. Just because they're not popular, doesn't mean they're not effective.

Cool story.

I didn't know if they were legal or not. I just know it's one hell of a way to break a muay thai clinch. Put me on me knees.

Who cares about the MMA sport, imagine using these in a fight! Even a trained fighter can't defend against them if you can utilize them in a fight!

Yeah, I see your point. But it's all about learning to fight to me, it just so happens that in a sanctioned event, some things aren't allowed. I fight more on the street where there are no rules, so maybe I look at things from a different angle.
