Default How Come???

I've lived in California for pushing 20 years.

Now, I grew up in my youth in New York, and in my later youth/High School in Central Texas.

At the age of 34, I can say that both New Yorkers and Texans have more common sense and smarts than the entire Population of Californians. And Texans are actually friendly, as are New Yorkers. As long as you use common Sense.

So I move out to CA because of a trim hunt, and how come I've never felt so much as a tremor, a quake, a shake, etc? Even though I see on the news that I shouldve felt something?

I live 10 miles from the worlds largest Fault Line (The San Andreas Fault).

In the 20 years I've lived in CA? THey CLAIM (THey meaning the CA geologists), that at least 650 earthquakes have happened, but are "Too Small to be felt".

I think Earthquakes are B.S. I mean, I know they exist. I know they happen. But then again, this overestimation as to their existence is for the birds

I think it's because Californians are half baked half the time( Including the geologists), and maybe they THINK the earth moved.

I survived 5 cyclones (Tornadoes for you who have never lived in TX), and 4 hurricanes in New Jersey when I was a kid.

I think Earthquakes are some quackery invented by the smoked to **** slowbrains of your typical Californian.

OTher than the Earthquake gripe? I would nto want to live anywhere else on earth than California. The weather ist he best. When your freezing days means the temp is 50 degrees?

Or ON THE WORST DAY 48?

The climate is the best int he world, next to Hawaii.

The climate is the best. hands down.

HOW COME IVE NEVER FELT AN EARTHQUAKE???????????

LIVING RIGHT ON THE FAULT-LINE???????

Geologists have instruments that measure seismic activity, so it's more then they just "think" the earth moved. Most earthquakes are too small to be felt, they can only be detected with the use of instruments. As for earthquakes in California being "BS" or overestimated, I found a link that lists all of California's major earthquakes (a 6.0 or greater) over the last 300 years. I dare you to find another state that has more. As to why you never felt one in your specific area, I don't know. I guess so far you have been lucky.
Here is the link,

I live in Tornado alley, but yet to see one in 20 years'.
Me being 38, and have lived in a few different places, I have always heard people say they would never move back to California after living in Texas. People here still hold the door open for ya.

Earthquakes and tornadoes--I've survived both. Running down a hallway and seeing the square of it rotate to the left and right while falling is wild and frightening. I hope you never have to experience it.

Thanks for the input guys. And Marnold, that's scary. I guess you're right.

Just lucky, I haven't felt it yet. But 20 years is a logn time. Must really just be luck

Dude, decafe... The USGS can detect movement we can't feel. 650 ? where did you get that number ? We have had more than that in the past 18 years, just over the hill from you. This town moves all the time !! LOL at this thread and your post, very funny !!
