i use the bicep crusher a lot to set up arm bars... by they way just some info on grappling for you... a bicep crusher is a catch wrestling move that was so effective it crossed over into BJJ! Well atleast if we are talking about the same move it is.

omoplata is the best... your opponent is face-down in pain while you are sitting comfortably upright

i thought the armbar that Rousimar Palhares slapped on Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84 was pretty slick. I'd never seen a guy set up an armbar from having a guys back before. Is that my favorite sub? It was at the time.

that is my favorite way to get an armbar. if i cant get a rear naked choke i always switch to that. its pretty neet because most people cant defend it well and most the time dont expect it.

i think i wrote about that in my first post on this thread... i also mentioned the gogoplatta from mount long before Aoki did it! just brining it up because i am pissed he pulled it off in front of thousands before i could get it done in a competition and film it

It was incredible, no denying that. Even Rogan was going nuts and was immediately talking about how this guys ground game was just what we need in the UFC to beat Anderson Silva. Thats alot of noise resulting from an armbar. Sorry that he stole your thunder but it is a very cool sub and as i've said before, i don't really care for BJJ.

quickly take mount and drop your knee on the far arm setting up the easyiest arm bar you will ever get in your life. trust me. when you swing your leg over and instead of placing it next to the body but instead on the shoulder the most common recation is to lean into to slip the arm out... soon as they do that the one near arm now because wide open for a super tight hard to stop arm bar with little risk to you. If you do it right it will happen so fast it will make you look like you had taken a butt load of speed before grappling and it just kicked in!

i dont actually train BJJ. I train catch wrestling. It is what former UFC champion Josh Barnett is trained in. We actually share a coach. Other catch wrestlers would be Former UFC Light Weight champion Sean Sherk, Former UFC Middle Weight Champion Frank Shamrock, UFC Legend Ken Shamrock, Undeafeted Shooto Welter Weight Champion Erik Paulson (mine and joshes coach), WEC Contender Cub Swanson,Matt Hume, Sakaraba, and Mach Sakari. Sorry for miss spelled names. But yeah i included a video of Erik Paulson showing some catch wrestling moves that **** BJJ guys often.

PS Catch Wrestling is also known as Counter BJJ.

mark kerr back in the day was probably the most deadly man around because of his ability to take anyone down to the ground and his ability to survive any submission and force the basic down your throat...

People forget he is a multi time ADDC champion which is a huge deal and was the starter for the Olympic medals for the USA the year that Kurt Angle won them and became famous. Kurt only got a chance because Kerr blew out his knee real hard. Mark Kerr MMA's forgotten solider. Light years ahead skill wise... sucks he was a juice monster!

Yeah, Mark was the man back in the day...too bad the painkillers and his ex-wife all came tumbling down at one time. The drugs do suck...and again demonstrate how they can ruin/help ruin a person's life. Mark's lost once in ADCC to the only current guy with a better win/loss percentage, Ricardo Arona...who's unbeaten. However, that was then and this is now. He's lost his last two fights and both to submissions...first to Oleg and then to some guy I've never even heard of. Against Oleg, he didn't even try to get outta that knee bar...he just laid there and tapped...almost like he gave up. It's very disheartening for me to watch.

In catch wrestling we use a lot of pain moves to either force a tap or set up a better submission... as BJJ a lot of your better players like to use positions to set up their submission attempts. In all grappling position is very important. I am not trying to say Catch Wrestlers don't care very much about their positioning but we are trying to be on the attack a bit more which may or may not be a good thing. Frank Trigg had an awesome explanation and comparison IMO on the Pride FSN tv show when they aired Big Nog vs Barnett 1. He was saying if Boxing is considered the sweet science of fighting that would be more like BJJ. But if boxing is considered the sweet science of fighting then Muay Thai would have to be considered the more violent and aggressive of the two. So when you have a world class Boxer fighting a world class Muay Thai guy its anyones fight but usually favoring the guy with the 8 points of attack as appose to the the two. Thats why catch wrestling is considered to be counter BJJ. It tends to use a lot of pain holds to make you make mistakes. Neither is 100% Nog beat Barnett and Barnett beat Nog... its the perfect example of why the argument is so damn hard. The biggest factor with peoples claims is the total lack of catch wrestlers in the world to the overwhelming amount of BJJ guys. Catch Wrestling isnt new... it has been around since the beginning of america but it hasnt been as time tested as BJJ and is still being perfected. I can drive around my state and see anywhere from 30-50 places teaching BJJ but i am in the only gym on the east coast besides florida with a real catch wrestling coach. Kinda crazy.
