Default Chuck Liddell vs. Randy Couture 3?

I wonder if Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture will go at it again. I really thought Couture was going to win this last fight just like he did the first, but I also knew that Liddell had the striker's chance.

Couture looked to be in really good shape for this fight, but you have to question his age and wonder if he still has what it takes. What do you think, will Randy Couture ever reclaim the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship?

I don't think Randy is done. The poke in the eye was his downfall. Chuck hit him with a solid left on that side of his face after the restart. For all we know Randy didn't even see it coming. The real question is who is left for Chuck to fight? Tito is gone and the Silva fight probably won't happen.

I think if Randy faced Chuck 10 times, Randy would win 8 of them. I really would have liked to see Randy face Tito again, with the winner facing Chuck for the title. Someone needs to step up in that division.

How about Randy vs. Stephan Bonner (Teacher vs. Student)? Yea, I know. Bonner would get whooped. Cool thought though.

As for Randy vs. Chuck 3, it's going to be awhile before we see that fight.

Default Randy isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

Even at his age, Randy is still a dominating fighter in the MMA world. His ground game is seems so overwhelming that the only chance for a loss is exactly what happened against Chuck. Any good striker can end a match quickly with the right connection, and I believe that was Chuck's only chance at winning. I would have to admit that I thought that Randy would take Chuck down and smother him just the same as he did against Vitor and Tito. Either way, it is good for the UFC that Chuck was able to come up with the win, it helps to keep things interesting.

So who's left in the light heavyweight world? It seems pretty obvious to me that Silva would not be a good match up against the likes of Couture, Lidell, or Belfore. Hopefully we will get some new comers onto the scene soon who can make a name for themselves in the division.

Default Randy regain the title?

It is my feeling that if Chuck and Randy fought 10 times, Randy would win 8 of them. That's simply because in order to beat Randy, you really do have to land that one shot. Then you can pummel him, but not until he is asking if it's his turn to pet the pretty pony. He has to be rocked once hard for there to be any chance at all, and the odds of landing that one perfect shot are not real good against a fighter of his caliber. But, having said that, Randy is getting old. I mean, fast forward a couple years and you're talking about a guy in his mid 40's. At some point, it has to slow down. Maybe this is the beginning of the end for Randy. I hope not. He's a real star in my book. And we were born in the same hospital! No joke!

But, on a side note, I'll tell you who will never see the top again...Vitor and Tito. I thought their fight in UFC 51 was anything but special. And the fight proved that neither or them is the caliber fighter of a Liddell or a Couture.

Im looking for that next phenom. Kind of a new-age Don Frey or Mark Kerr. Someone young and bad. But I have to say, I love Chuck and Randy. They have brought a maturity and sophistication to the sport of mixed martial arts which causes it to stand out as a serious athletic event. These athletes are among the best in the world. Gone are the days of the huge beer guts swinging for the fence for twelve seconds until someone falls asleep.

I think Randy will win if they fight again. But he is gonna be in for a war, and it wont be very exciting because he wont let Chuck up.

well said thakkus, and welcome to the the board. I have gone back and watched Chuck Liddell vs. Randy Couture part 1 several times just to compare the 2 fights.

Liddell clearly showed much more confidence in the second fight. It looked like he was giving Couture a little too much respect the first time around. Randy pretty much had his way with Chuck, taking him down and wearing him out for the entire fight. Randy was even out-striking Liddell because Chuck seemed back on his heels and unagressive.

This time around, you could tell that Chuck was throwing more and landing more. I think Randy felt he could stand up with Chuck based on the first fight, so he only tried that 1 take down in the first 2 minutes. Chuck was obviously not allowing this one to go to the mat as he quickly broke away from Randy's grapple attempt. Im sure when Chuck was up against the fence he was having flash backs from the first fight. There was no way he was going to let Randy take him to the mat without a fight, or alteast an attempt to run away from Randy's grasp.

I really hope these guys fight again soon!

As far as young phenoms, I really think the Ultimate Fighter on SpikeTV is going to attract alot of young tallent to the UFC. Let's hope so.

With the shallow state of the Light Heavyweight division, we may this fight very soon. They don't have many other light heavyweights with the credentials to fight Chuck yet. Jeremy Horn's name has been thrown around because of his win over Chuck, but I doubt that will happen. The next best guy in the Light Heavyweight division in the UFC next to Randy is Babalu. My guess is that Randy will fight Babalu and the winner will fight Chuck.

I'm not sure how it will go but I'd like to see them both fight somebody else first. It will happen eventually, seeing no matter what happens I have say that Couture is the biggest threat to Liddell. They both have one win a piece against each other with no argument. Much anticipated fight. Randy all the way!!!

I think they should fight each other at least one more time. With one win each there must be tie breaker. I would like to see Randy earn another shot at the title sooner then later

Default They will fight again

I definitely see Chuck and Randy having a third fight. They both like to compete against the best, so it's only natural that they will meet up again. The only scenario I can see that would mess things up would be for one of them to fade quickly (conventional thought says that would probably be Randy due to his age).

I just don't think Randy is anywhere near being done. I agree with Rahkus - once Randy took that finger to his eye, everything changed. He looked hurt, and even tentative.

Then again, what if Randy goes on a tear and Chuck loses a fight or two? Jeremy Horn is extremely seasoned and I don't think anyone would be shocked if he beat Chuck.

Don't get me wrong, if I had to bet my paycheck on that fight today, I would go with Chuck, but Jeremy Horn is more than capable and he could win it

I think everyone was thinking about Liddell vs. Couture 3 the second Randy hit the mat. I know I was for sure, as long as Randy wins his fights and stays healthy, and asuming Liddell doesn't lose his belt anytime soon. I see a Couture vs. Liddell fight in the future for sure. But enough of the strikers chance comments. Its not chance when you intend to knock somebodys head off. Thats what Chuck does best, knocks you out. Its not by chance, remember when he let Vernon White up just so he could knock him out.

Totally agree. Although I'm going for Chuck since he's younger(hopefully the UFC will grow and have even better fighters when Randy eventually retires, though I wish Randy would never grow old) I know Randy will win if hes more relaxed. Have you noticed that in their second fight Randy wasn't as relaxed and was moving around more? He wasn't exactly doing things"Pedro Izzo Style", another term I made up.I think.Anyways, I just think Randy will win.Hall of Famer, guys!
